Save the date: Saturday November 6, Pat and Audrey's potluck

I haven't been much of a hiker this year, and I don't know most of you, but I have to have some of Pats cookies. I MAY be dressed in a Saree, as I will be in Lexington for an event just prior! Sandy

    EMS Club Day 10/2-10/3

I hit the downstairs consignment area at IME. Patagucci, EMS,REI Mammut, Mtn Hardwear, etc. Dirt cheap. The items are used, but the good brands withstand the use. Mostly clothes, but I scored my backpack and ice climbing boots there. I hardly buy any new stuff anymore. Can't justify the price.

Less Rocky Trails in the Whites

I guess I never even thought of the Rocky Branch Trail as smooth. Kinda like the Dry River Trail is an oxymoron! Sandy

Less Rocky Trails in the Whites

Hey Jennifer: A rocky trail is harder for me too, and I can't even imagine what it must be like without sight, even with a tired guide dog! I'm impressed with this guy's accomplishments. Makes my hardships seem like nothing. Sandy

Less Rocky Trails in the Whites

Ok. Stop laughing. I know that most of our beloved routes to the views are not really trails but stone staircases. I am interested in learning which trails are kinder to the feet. I understand that rocks are everpresent, but am interested in trails that might have less of the jagged slippery...

Soooo Jealous! Jefferson gave me and my daughter a major run for our money. Seriously, it kicked our butts! Way to go Sage! Is Hugh going to teach the ladies to climb too? Sandy

Cortisone shot to relieve back pains

I am sorry to hear this Nif. Occasionally more than one injection is necessary. I had mine under flouroscopy and luckily have (so far) good results. My pain is not totally gone but it is tolerable, and easily dispatched with Tylenol. Sorry about the spinal headache. Those are awful. Under...

Cortisone shot to relieve back pains

It is certainly worth a try. It is usually done by a Pain Management doc. Ususally they are Anesthiologists, and some are affiliated with Ortho Docs. Some are independant. Get references. I just had my 1st done today, and I am optimistic, as I have had several 'trigger point' injections that...

    Phoenix AZ hiking -- Suggestions?

I lived in the Valley for 3 years. I second Squaw, and if you do have the time, head for Sedona. This time of year it is hot in the Valley. Be sure to hike in the morning before the furnace really heats it up. Sedona is more temperate, and the Red Rocks are stunning. Wear sunscreen and a hat...
