Hiking around Cathedral Ledge in winter

I second Peaked Mt. Nice, easy hike nice views. right in North Conway. Hiking around the base of Cathedral is very fun (on the roads) Ice climbers on the cliff are entertaining. Stay on the road though, unless you have a helmet. A hike around Echo Lake is also fun. Sandy

    Snowshoe pain

The hip flexor can be a pesky bothersome thing. The key is GENTLE stretching exercises. I find they bother me less if I stretch them AFTER I exercise. It is warm and lubricated and amenable to stretching. That said, I suffered terribly this weekend after a snowshoe hike. Didn't follow my own...

    triage via tecumseh

I am no stranger to ankle injury. Needed the right one reconstructed (twice) after I took a graceful spill going down the Liberty Spring trail. ( I hiked out on it, Speare was great). Not sure which hurt worse: the ankle or my armpits from the crutches: Try this. Looks like a fun way to scoot...

Too bad about your injury. Tough fracture. I wish you the best of luck in your recovery. Lucky for all of us that miss entire seasons in the mountains, they are still there when the seasons repeat themselves. Be patient. You will be out there before you know it. Sandy

    Trends in Outdoor Recreation

This is why I ultimately gave up on traditional downhill skiing. Only problem is that I bought tele skis and actually have to go to a lift serviced area until I can handle the turn in the backcountry!!! Luckily, I only need the bunny slopes this year, and I hope Bretton Woods continues their...

Northern Mass/Southern NH Hikes with Dog?

My beasts love the Blue Hills. You can do rugged or smooth hikes, Elevation or flat. I would recommend you use a leash until puppy is well controlled by voice. Lots of people who hike are not happy with muddy paws all over them, and some people can be afraid. Enjoy the hiking!!! Sandy
