Pat and Audrey's potluck November 7 cancelled

Hi all, I have bad news. Our granddaughter Becky passed away this morning. She was only 25 years old. We'll miss seeing you all and trust that 2016 will be a better year for everyone than this one.

Save the date! November 7 Pat and Audrey's potluck

It's almost time for the grand event! We are looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones. As usual, BYOB and an appetizer or dessert. Plenty of room for sleepovers; just warn us ahead of time. We have some beds and mattresses and there's always room for tents and sleeping pads...

Pat and Audrey's potluck Saturday, 11/8/14

It's been a while since I was here. My health hasn't been the best and hiking has been severely curtailed. I'm stronger now and getting on VFTT won't be as depressing for me as it was before! :) So, it's time for our house party! Fingers crossed for good weather so we can have our teeny fire...

I Hate Down - Am I Missing Something?

I've never hiked up a mountain wearing a down jacket, but as soon as I stop I put it on and often wear it on the descent unless that too is strenuous. I used to generate lots of heat but not so much as I get older. It's also great for easy hikes without much elevation. And for walking around...

    Microspike sizing

Barehanded and barefooted in the living room was plenty tough. I tried my old ones and they are still easy-on, so it's not me.

    Microspike sizing

I got to wear my new 'spikes today and discovered that they were nearly impossible to put on my boots. I had bought them early in the year and they are substantially thicker and less stretchy than our older ones. A medium was always fine for my size 9.5-10 foot, but I'll have to go to a large...

Thanks everyone! Thankful for the extra hour of sleep, but not for the leftovers that are bulging out of the fridge.

Save the date: Pat and Audrey's potluck November 2

MJ, I doubt we need to remind anyone to bring their appetites! Your pies are so good! I'll have lasagna, meatballs, sauerkraut with sausage, baked beans and franks, chicken wings, a corn salsa/rice medley, and probably a few other things...

In Memoriam - Bookah 10/31/2004 - 10/28/2013 My friend and hiking buddy

We are at a loss for words, Alan. We were anticipating your visit this weekend and I was counting the treats in the freezer to make sure there were enough for both Boo and Leo. This is all wrong. --Pat and Audrey

Save the date: Pat and Audrey's potluck November 2

I don't believe there's a ban on firewood from NH and Maine. Don't go overboard, though. We have some nice seasoned maple wood courtesy of the 2011 October snowstorm. Yes, there'll be helpers arriving early. I'll hide the libations till they've done their work.
