    Lodging in Gorham

We have stayed at the Jefferson Notch cabins in Randolph, close to the Appalachia parking lot. They have kitchenettes and are strict about quiet time which can be important in snowmobile season. http://www.jeffnotchmotel-cabins.com/index.htm

Thanks Dave. You always add so much to the potlucks. People love being served random bits of succulent meat. Great that your wife could come. I'm sending her a healing wish.

    Hale and Pemi's First Four K ~for dog lover's~

She is growing into a real beauty. Great that the hike was a success, not that you expected otherwise, I'm sure. Thanks for the loan of your husband last night.

Save the date: Pat and Audrey's potluck Saturday 11/5/11

Thanks to our guests for a stellar evening! There are no casualties so far as I know, the police drove by a few times but didn't stop, and everyone brought the most amazing food! Prino tried valiantly to count bodies, but people kept moving around and his best guess was close to 60. Some new...

    Personality Profile

The managers at work took a simplified version of this test many years ago, when we scored ourselves as RED (goal-oriented), BLUE (people-oriented), or GREEN (task-oriented). I'm green, a list-lover and peakbagger, and proud of it! I guess reds don't necessarily want to climb the peak, they...

Save the date: Pat and Audrey's potluck Saturday 11/5/11

That's OK, we'll just pass it around and lick it.

Chair Rock Flow, Darning Needle Pond, and Grass Pond (10/29-10/30/11) (Adirondacks)

I've never hiked in the ADK's south of the High Peaks, so I enjoyed your report very much. Nice that you were able to capture some of that warm golden late fall light.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness 10/28-29/11

Thanks Kevin, it's a beautiful tribute to the Whites. We once had a "well-traveled" hiker that we met on Kearsarge North describe our mountains as "just foothills." I still bristle at that.

Winter's Gettin' Close On The Kinsmans, 10/29/2011

Earl, No matter how bad the conditions are, or the weather, you always make your hikes sound so enticing!

You know you are a peakbagger when

You sprain your ankle on Waumbek and can't get your foot into your boot the next day. You wonder if they carry big boots at Foster's. Everyone goes to climb Adams and leave you crying and cleaning the motel room.

You know you are a peakbagger when

When for one of a million reasons you are unable to reach the summit, and you repeat "We could have done it!" ad nauseum over the next 24 hours.

    Stub Hills

Are you working on the NE 3K's? I'd have been thrilled to have your reports as guides when Pat and I were thrashing around in the ME-NH borderlands.

    How Much Snow?

Only 3" in Lexington MA, but we lost large limbs off our huge maples. We could hear them crashing down during a rather sleepless night. Leo was terrified and had to sleep on top of us. Momentary power loss but we just got cable/internet back.
