    Do You Ever Hike Drunk?

If anyone wants some real entertainment, check the "Drunk Summitposting" thread on Summitpost.org. There's some truly hilarious stuff in there.:D Not that I'd know anything about a thread like that or anything...:o

Some wicked cool shots in there. My favorite is the wave fan one. Thanks for posting.

    eagle scouts

I'm an Eagle. I joined scouts in 6th grade and got through most of Life before high school. Then there's a 2 year gap in my advancement as varsity sports and advanced placement classes took hold. I reached Eagle as a junior in HS and got my bronze palm early senior year. Scouting has most...

    Do You Ever Hike Drunk?

Without admitting anything, (read: I'm admitting something :D) I may or may not have run whilst intoxicated once. It was, I mean it might have been, fun. However, not something I would do on a regular basis. Hiking sober is just too much fun. As a great man once said, "don't fix what ain't...

    Hiking in Long Pants

Forgo the underwear and wear some running shorts under your pants. They're designed for the comfort of your nethers while moving fast and are great for river crossings/spontaneous swimming excursions. Bonus: you can save money and weight and just wear normal pants, not zip-offs. If you get...

    Why do you get tired?

I get tired because I didn't run enough in the preceding weeks.

    Hiking in Long Pants

Do it. I have two pairs of hiking pants: one zip-off and one regular. The zip-offs stay in the drawer more and more since I got the regular ones (found some Ex-Officio's on sale). I wear running shorts instead of boxers when I hike and so if it's really hot, I just ditch my pants all...

    light backpack suggestions

If you can afford it, I've heard nothing but good things about Cilogear. The guy who owns it (Graham) has really worked at being responsive to suggestions from users. I have an older Osprey Atmos 25 and a Mountainsmith Phantom. Both are smaller than what you're looking for, but have been...

    Colorado Equivalent of VFTT

For something like Longs Peak, get started by 3:30 AM. The nice part of Colorado hiking is that you can get up above treeline by sunrise and still have 3 miles to the summit. :)

    Colorado Equivalent of VFTT

Summitpost FTW! The Colorado community on SP has always been pretty active (unlike the midwesterners or easterners :(). If nothing else, they can steer you towards a Colorado-specific forum. Good luck!

    WODC Outlook, May 2009

I had no idea there was such controversy about a freakin map. I haven't been to the Ossipees in years, but I remember them as beautiful mountains. Trail Bandit, keep making maps. Whoever wrote that WDOC piece needs to chill.

    Begging for VFTT sticker

Ten is a minimum. Hey Darren, please get another batch of stickers. Given the number of "please send me a sticker" threads that have come up in the past month or two, there's certainly demand for stickers. I can't imagine there are that many more unused stickers floating about...

    Hikes Around Embden Maine

Mount Abraham is just shy of an hour away. It's an hour fifteen to the AT crossing of Maine 27. Head south from there and it will take you over both Crockers. They're not as nice as Abraham IIRC. Weld is about an hour and a half. Mount Blue, Tumbledown, and Little Jackson are all nice...

Nalgene pulling bisphenol-A polycarbonate bottles off market

I have heard that you need to put boiling or near-boiling water in the nalgenes to get the BPA to leach out of the plastic. FWIW, I do like the indestructibility of the BPA ones and have been disappointed with the flimsier construction of the new nalgenes.

    Begging for VFTT sticker

Some jerk stole my nalgene with the VFTT sticker.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: This sucks. Thankfully, ADK88 gave me two and so I will still be able to rep Views. Still mad about the nalgene though, it was one of my favorites.
