It snowed a couple tiny flakes when I was up there today, and the wind was whipping like mad, but I didn't personally encounter any ice. I'll bet that,a s soon as the sun went down, there was serious freezing though. Fantastic day!

Not recommended? Eh, I'll recommend it. Bam! Spectacular hike. The not-recently-maintained branch of trail was pretty easy to follow, steep and delightful, but the other branch had even more awesome ridgey goodness. Both worth checking out.

I agree, great report. Sounds like the summit trails have grown in a bit since I was there a few years ago. I've never tried to hit Fort but the rest of the loop is really lovely, in my opinion. The slide is challenging/beautiful for sure. Tons and tons of moose tracks on the lower areas of...

Assuming you mean granola bars, I am surprised by this thread. (Not sure if energy bars are something different...?) I totally use Luna bars and Larabars. So easy and grabbable. Way less sugar/junk than candy bars.
