    Allen

When we crossed Jimmy, the planks were in place and when we crossed they sagged under the water a tiny bit in 2 places. No problem.

    Allen

We did Allen on 9/17.We had to wade to 2 big crossings on the way in. On the way out it felt good to walk right through. There seemed to be more blow down than the last time in (winter) and the top of the slide was a little tricky. There are places where the trail was a little tricky to find but...

    2011 Adirondack BBQ and Gathering

Nice to see a bunch of you ! Saturday we ended up doing Whiteface and summited at 6PM. It took a little coaxing and when we decided to set Whiteface as "the goal", I promised the boys I'd take them home early if we made the summit. Therefore, we broke camp at 11PM and drove home through the...

    Total Knee Replacement Question

I hiked with a fellow who did many of his "46" with an artificial knee. We hiked 4 days in a row out of Waterville Valley. He would wrap his knee in the evening with a gizmo that circulated cold water to reduce swelling and that took maybe a half hour each day. He was an agile and strong...

    The Value of a Patch

Well, when I die, I just assume my kids will take my patch-laden pack, collect all my hiking stuff and have it on display in airtight chambers around the monument they'll build in my memory....doesn't that go without saying ?

I got a room (Blue Spruce-Middlebury-$80) and headed in to town for a couple beers at Two...
