    Adventure Dog photo contest

Dear, Dedicated, Darling, and also could be other D words that una_dogger would surely never refer to her husband by. ;)

Nice report and pictures. Congrats everyone on your finishes, check marks, and happy birthday Kevin! I wish I could have made this trip. Looks like an awesome day. ;)

South & North Kinsman - Mount Kinsman Trail

Nice pictures and report yvon! I am surprised that the approach from the west doesn't see more traffic. It's a very nice hike. I agree, Bald knob is worth the side trip for sure!

Cannon Mountain - Environmental Damage, Hiking Prohibition, and SB217

The funny part is, you talk about soil erosion, but if you read the thread, the vast majority of the posters are volunteer adopters of trails. Most people that are showing concern here spend the mud season maintaining the trails you're referring to. I mean, why bother with things like the...

Cannon Mountain - Environmental Damage, Hiking Prohibition, and SB217

It's the WMNF so really... it's public land they are trashing. Right? It's not theirs in the slightest. They are renting it and the NH taxpayers and FS pay for the cleanup. IMHO, "hiking community" doesn't have neat little boundaries that exclude hikers from caring about the trails and...

Cannon Mountain - Environmental Damage, Hiking Prohibition, and SB217

I'm definitely with Unadogger, sardog1, rocket21 and others on this. If they are so concerned about an "environmentally sensitive area" why was it destroyed in the first place? Whether you believe people *should* be hiking on skiing trails is a different issue. It's pretty obvious this is off...

    Bonds Traverse, 2/4/2012 (weather permitting)

Would really like to join you all on this one. I'm not sure if it's the best idea after 3 weeks off from hiking though. The conditions sound perfect...

    GPS, Maps, and cameras ILLEGAL

Thread drift, but I recently read your essay "My take on the Ossipee Mountains" and I have to say, no apology needed! It was enlightening. As for this bill, something definitely seems fishy. Presented by Sen. Barnes Jr. of Dist 17 (Raymond). Is something going on in the Pawtuckaway area that...

Coyotes: Followed by a pack in Belknaps. Anyone else ever have an issue with them?

No disses! Just saying, more sources are better and that wikipedia page looks a little on the dry side. I wouldn't trust a "scientific" article from the FDD if that was the only source I could find either. :D Thanks for the other links everyone!

Coyotes: Followed by a pack in Belknaps. Anyone else ever have an issue with them?

Yeah... the Wikipedia page on Coywolf links to the Toronto Star twice, the Caledonian-Record once, a blog, a dead link to Montana State U research paper. Not very reliable looking stuff, unfortunately. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coywolf I would also like to read some other sources if anyone...

    On a Comeback:Hedgehog Mountain 1/28/12

I'll admit it... I had to look up Sacrum. After doing so, I must say I don't envy Linda at all. The Sacrum sounds like a horrible thing to injure! I think helping a friend back to health is a fine way to spend the day in the mountains, "presi day" or no! Nice pictures as always.

Coyotes: Followed by a pack in Belknaps. Anyone else ever have an issue with them?

I live about 20m south of the Belknaps and they are pretty common in my area. I hear them quite often at night, never had any problems as far as I know, though. They seem to keep to themselves for the most part. I love to hear them chat to each other. A few times they have come pretty close...

The Chronicles of Hernia: The Lying Around, the Stitches and the Loose Wardrobe

I haven't had any hernias so no advice there. Just wanted to post and say I love your blog and hope you get well soon!

    An ounce of prevention...

As a father of 3 daughters, I would have suggested they get in their car and leave. My wife agrees 100%. To be honest, this thread is pretty scary on a lot of levels and I'll leave it at that.

Franconia Ridge Traverse, Lafayette to Flume, 1/21/2012

Unless I'm using the search tool wrong, "North Lincoln" doesn't seem to show up either. Nice pics BIGEarl!

Mount Washington Observatory Summit Volunteer 1/19-25/12/11

I'm so jealous! Do you get to post one of the observer updates on the site? How's the internet connection up there? They just installed a new land line recently if I'm not mistaken. What do you do on a daily basis?

Brief Ski Tour of the "Lower" Ossipees!

The last time I was up on the loop by Faraway, there was somewhat clearly-defined path just before "the bench" outlook. We didn't realize it was the actual "trail" until we reached the bench and decided it wasn't worth turning around. FWIW, The bench itself is a destination worthy of visiting on...
