What does VFTT mean to you?

I don't get to go hiking in the Whites as much as I'd like to, therefore the few times that I do get to go I need information to make for a quality trip that is well worth my time. VFTT has always given me that. The site has also served as a great place to get info on hiking gear. During the...

    Free Backpacker magazine subscription?

I got this same deal from Rolling Stone magazine. Since I have zero interest in that magazine I simply threw out every issue without ever even opening it or used it for the guy in my avatar. It was funny when the subscription ran out and they kept sending my nasty grams telling me to start...

Two family rental chalet in NH?

Though a bit pricey you might find this place in Jackson to be to your liking. Good X-Country skiing in the area. I'm sure kitty would like it was well. http://www.nordicvillage.com/white_mountains_accommodations/white_mountains_accommodations.php

    RICE No More

Reading this it all sounds very logical. I wonder how long it'll take to spread through the medical and athletic training community. Most people are still fairly entrenched in the "RICE" theory.

    Rhode Island high point Intel

I know the previous owner used to "pack a piece". You're probably much safer now.

Saw a Bald Eagle on the way to work this morning.

Aren't they an impressive site? I saw one a few years ago when I was kayaking on 1st Connecticut Lake in Pittsburg.

Smells you like in the woods

Pine, maple, cedar and pepperoni. The last one comes out of my backpack once at the summit.

Woman fends off bear with a zucchini

Obviously not an Italian bear; he'd have enjoyed the zucchini. ;) Seriously, I think I'll pack a zucchini in my backpack for the next hike. If I don't need to use it as a weapon then I'll enjoy eating it at the summit.

German tourist falls from Glen Ellis falls

Not all that hard to do. That is one slippery area and the same almost happened to me once. I hope he makes out well.

    workout or rest?

TRUE. Sleep is enjoyable. It's the one time of the day when it is truly your time and nobody messes with you. Adk dib, It's easy to overtrain. I've been working out for 30 years but I don't ever feel that I've ever overtrained. I workout every day but I do different body parts on the days I...

    Magalloway Mt.- Camp on Top!

Magalloway has the best summit in NH IMO. You can see Maine, Quebec, Vermont and on a very clear day Mt. Washington in the far distance. I saw that cabin when I was there last month and would love to spend a night there sometime.

Advice for a New Englander moving to Utah

Zion. Incredible place, was there about 15 years ago so the details are fuzzy. I do remember it was a beautiful place with plenty of hiking.
