    Honeymooners

If your friend is getting married in October, there might be some nice fall foliage at the lower elevations still. The pair of Sugarloaf Peaks in Twin Mountain are nice. A trip up and around Lonesome Lake is not too tough and quite interesting.

Hiker rescued from Wildcat Ridge Trail

We have not changed anything, nor plan to. We just discussed it. I agree it's a challenging trail and the only "improvements" being planned are a new ladder to replace the rotted out one, some cairns, and blazing.

Dugan, One the way home I noticed one. Granted with the condition of that last section, it should come as no surprise.

Signups will be in Mid-July on the Flags site. The exact time and date will be determined in the near future and posted here. Just a small word of advice to all: Have a backup peak or two confirmed with your group in case the peak you wish is selected before you get a chance to sign up...

    Lafayette break-ins

Break-ins suck no matter where you are. Very surprised to hear it was at the Lafayette lot. It gets a lot more traffic then other trailheads. My question is: Has the video monitoring ever caught anyone and if so what was the punishment? I thought I read somewhere that some folks were...

Question for people who hike w/dogs

In my yard, my dog is king and he knows it. The yard is fenced in and he only barks at two things: when a stranger that he does not know, comes into the yard and the mailman. Out on the trail, he is very much more reserved. He will only have the behavior that started this thread only...

    Amherst/Northampton Area Info

In regards to MichaelJ's post, yes, you can hike the former ski area. The Metacomet-Mondanock trail passes about 150 yards from where the top of the skilift. It's getting overgrown in some spots and becoming a off-road vehicle haven for some folks. Atkins Farms, which Michael mentioned...

    Amherst/Northampton Area Info

Nate hit a bunch of really good spots. The Metacomet-Mondanock trail is very interesting. The Seven Sisters from the Notch to Mt. Holyoke is always one of my favorites. The Robert Frost trail is very underated as well. The Northampton Bike Trail is a nice ride and not too far from...
