a Foolish hike to Kinsman Pond

Saturday March 31st was the date of the 2nd Annual Fools Scout Ball, arranged by a group of nuts from Rocks On Top. The plan was to gather a large group of hikers at the Lonesome Lake hut for feasting and partying. I'm not really the type who likes to hang around a hut all day so I was fully...

    Imp Trail Views

I did that exactly. Parked uphill at Imp north TH, cruised down to the lot at Stoney Brook and stashed the bike in the woods. I found it to be a very easy bike ride :D

How many hikes did you do this Winter?

A dozen for me too. Highlights were the Kinsmans via Fishin Jimmy, Black Mtn in Benton, Owl's Head via Black Pond, Tripyramids via Sabbaday, Moosilauke for Mad Townie's 48th, a 4 day vacation in early January where I visited Jennings Peak, Cherry Mtn, Randolph and Crescent, and Chocorua - and...

    Franconia Ridge Trail Question

Rolly and I hiked that section a few weeks ago. There was alot of fresh snow, maybe 2-3 feet, with a firm pack under it. So that section does get some traffic, just not near as much as the rest of the ridge. Whenever we strayed from the path we sunk in pretty good :D

Thanks for a great hike Peter! I've been on some awesome hikes this winter (including with you on a very icy Owl's Head) but this was one of the best, and an epic battle to end the season with :D  .

    Moosilauke on March 17th, anyone?

wow! what a hike! Those winds at the top were amazing. The sight of nearly a dozen hikers struggling for the last few yards to the summit was amusing. Trying to get around the rocks while the wind tried to grab you by the snowshoes and hurl you into each other was something to see. When the...
