    Total Knee Replacement Question

Total Knee Replacement Ahh yes. It's a bit intimidating to hear Cold Feet' and Train Wreck's laments knowing I go in for TKR in May. I am trying to get "Razor Thin" to see if that may help and I may not have to go thru it. But...... my Daughter does TKR in Denver and says quality of life...

    Liquid Bandage and Cold Cuts

My friends For decades I've suffered along with most of my climbing friends from "cold cuts" on our fingers (cuticles). They are nasty little slices next to the fingernail .And ..... they hurt. Seeing the Neosporin on my friend's table reminded me of the treatment Ive used for years now...

Mt Assiniboine has caught my climbing eye since 1955 when I saw it in a Canadian Pacific ad. A really magnificent mt. Looks a little like the Boulder Flatirons on steroids. If you climb it would you drop me and email so I can loop into your images and trip report?

Thanks for a wonderful winter climb of Baxter and Hamlin. It was truly an amazing trip. The weather seemed to really give some great photo ops. After a lifetime of climbing these are among the best images of an "expeditionary trip ". Im from Franconia , NH and I remember thinking that compared...

    The Value of a Patch

RM Dana Design Pack Hmm Maybe they need the money to buy a new Spectra or lightweight Kevlar pack or a fab Wild Things eVent shell. Those knees that carried that heavy bag must be pretty weight sensitive by now. (I have great Dana Heavyweight I thinks it's an Astroplane or Terraplane) They...

Hey Cath, I loved the Lincoln Slide exit route images and report. Got a deal for you. When I come back in my next life with new knees and hips I'll look you up and we will do them all over again. My first Owl's Head ascent came in 1970 . As I got to the top of the slide, (the scrub was low...

What is happening with MSR snowshoes?

Msr good business I bought one of the first pair of Ascents and have used them heavily. I am 6'6" and 240. If there are problems (Lost heel lifter straps etc) MSR always made good. SO They get an A in my book and an A+ for being so far out in front of the other snow shoe makers that it took...

"Leave the Snow Shoes in the Car"???

A lot of good experiencd folks grabbed this thread. Thanks. There are so many great new winter climbers out there that a little "edu" from the old guard wont hurt. Postholing should only occur until you put on your flotation. Beyond that you are not a climber or mountaineer but a tourist...

"Leave the Snow Shoes in the Car"???

As I sit here recouperating from an injury I am in awe of the lack of mountaineering awareness from the "new crowds" on the mountains. You are not on a white stair climber! All reports now seem to say there are many climbers out particularly on "cherry days". What prompted this thread was...

    Knee surgery..been there? done that?

Im still in here with you. This weekend will be sketchy so you wont be missing much (small consolation). The forward Chrystal Ball shows a no painer hike with no weather related stiffness ever again so stay with the rehab even tho it hurts like hell.

    Igloo mythbusting...

Hail the Igloo Again .....the Ice Box Igloo form from Grand Shelters makes building unsweaty and precise. And it works with snow textures that wont pack into a snowball like western powder and eastern granular . Weve built in both The time it takes is about the same as to pack out a tent...

    What's up with Monadnock?

Hopefully Ill be around to enjoy the Mt next year. There are a few other choices out there. They are undrstaffed and would do well to ask for a volunteer group to clear say Marlboro Tr.
