    AMC Hiker Shuttle...

If you can get to the Highland center then you can spot a bike before you begin. When you get back to HC, it's all downhill to Ethan Pond trial (except for the .3 up at the end). Lock up bike and come back and get it after you're done.

NH Hikesafe Card in NH House study committee

Interesting point Tim. If you felt you were getting into a "sketchy" situation (assuming you have cell coverage) just call and get a card. State will probably mandate you have the card for at least an hour before you can use it for a rescue.

NH F&G Press Release: Commission to study funding issue

John, just press the barbs down before use (and before you stick yourself) and then you can catch and release and not have to worry about any hooking issues. Or just watch Tim's videos. Might be safer to need a rescue. :) Ken

    Blue Job

Parking lot on First Crown Point Rd is plowed and huge. Room for lots of cars. About 15 when we were done and many more could fit. We followed the orange trail (only trail there is) counter clockwise. Quick hike but great views from the tower! Pretty woods and a day with our son and his...

NH Hikesafe Card in NH House study committee

It appears that hikers are not the only group that F&G are after. If a fishing license will cover you for hiking/being rescued will it also count if the have to come get you in your kayak or canoe? http://nhpr.org/post/nh-lawmakers-float-idea-canoe-kayak-fee-boost-revenue

    Food When Winter Hiking

Food items vary, but many of the above named are taken on various hikes. The beverage of choice is boiling Tang. I make mine sweet, my wife a bit less so. A hot drink of sugar on a cold day is delicious. On a long hike the second nalgene of boiling Tang in a an insulated water bottle cozy is...

    Tecumseh, via Mt. Tecumseh Tr.

Parking-Waterville was busy but still had plenty of parking. Parked in lot 1 right across from the trailhead. Water crossings- all were ok. The second was easier above the trail than right where trail crosses. The crossing in the col was ok. Spikes helped on both of these. Ok for a dog...

    East Kenebago Logging Road Conditions?

I cannot comment on current conditions as to logging/snow etc., but when we did it in September there were a number of spots where the water bars would have been sketchy with my sedan, but you may be more daring. If my memory is correct you would at most need to plan on a 1-2 additional miles...

Is Mill Brook Road still open

If the road is open you will have no problem with your car. The road is in better shape than most paved roads. Only concern would be if there was a small layer of snow/ice as it is mostly uphill.

    Longs (Middle, West)

Nash Stream Rd, Trio Pond Rd are in great shape. Passenger car could easily go in. Trio Pond did have a small amount of snow, which could be a problem soon, if you have two wheel drive and no snow tires. Parked at the gate at the junction of Trio Pond and Phillips Brook Rds. Room along the...

Hutchins via Bushwhack, Unknown Pond Peak via UPT, Kilkenny Ridge Trail and BW

Mill Brook Rd. is in excellent shape. Plenty of parking at the end for 6-8 cars. Room around Unknown Pond Trailhead for a couple or on the road. We did Hutchins first. Went basically west from the parking lot through the logged area (found a "trail" on the way out that starts just down the...

    Mt. Deception

Trails: Bushwhack Old Cherry Mtn Road to Camp 7. Room for 2 or 3 cars. Headed slightly SE. Woods were open and easy to navigate. Skirted a few areas that looked a bit tougher. Got steep near the West Peak summit cone, but still fairly good woods. Went over West and hit the toughest part...

Fool Killer, Middle, South Tripyramid, West Sleeper, East Sleeper

Parking at Sabbaday Brook Trail had one car at start. Full when done. Sabbaday Brook is rougher post hurricanes but still a nice woods walk. Crossings were all rock hops. Some step overs. Trail would be easy to lose in places where it was washed out. Treadway is covered in leaves right...

    Stratton via LT

After visiting Northern VT on Saturday, we went to the South to get Stratton. Parking lot had room for about 20 cars and room on the road. The LT up to Stratton is very gradual. Muddy sections down low. Very easy hike. Crowded at the top. One to go! Krobi

Jay Peak, Big Jay via LT and "bushwhack"

Saturday took the long trip to northern VT. Long Trail up to Jay Peak is in great shape. Crowded at the top. The "bushwhack" to Big Jay is a bushwhack in name only. Quite a few muddy spots on the bushwhack. Beautiful day in Northern VT. Nice to see that NH has not cornered the market on...

Terrace Mtn via York Pond and Kilkenny Ridge Trails

York Pond Trail head (also Bunnell Notch) had parking for about 3 cars. When we came out there were 8-10 along the road as well. YPY to the BN fork was brushy (wet in AM). From the fork it was muddy in places and needs brushing. As you get out of the boggy area and ascend, the woods and...
