    Snow in the Notch

I have been watching this storm and thinking that exact same thing, lots of people will hike this weekend and be completely surprised when they see snow and they have sneakers on. That's because its been so warm for almost a month. In terms of this storm, the really heavy snow is going to come...

    South Twin Slide. Guyot-Bond-Bondcliff

In summer it is so cool to follow Redrock Brook to where it disappears. There is a spot where it goes underground in a matter of feet, it is quite amazing. And Redrock Pond is spectacular with it's meadow surrounding it. If there is any place that "semi" represents out west, its that in my opinion.

Still Plenty of Snow up in Northern NH

Yes, the last storm was all snow in most of the Whites above 2500 feet. Mount Washington got 18 inches, while Carter Notch reported 17. I think areas like Adams and Madison may have gotten 2 feet or more though. The valleys around the Whites with the exception of the Gorham, Randolph area are...

Hancock Notch Trail and Kanc, Epic snow!

So I just had to get up and see all the snow that fell. Just like what was said, a few miles past Loon on the Kanc, the snow increased rapidly. By the time you get to the height of land, there are snow banks 8 feet high. A total of 70-75 inches of snow fell here in 5 days. The trail head to...

    Ok, I'll do it... BIG SNOW STORM(s) 2/17, 2/19!

Not really, that's one reason Mount Washington doesn't record as much, its just so windy. Another 4-8 inches fell today in the Whites above 2000 feet!

    Ok, I'll do it... BIG SNOW STORM(s) 2/17, 2/19!

The western Whites are the big losers in this for Cannon, Franconia, up to Twin Mountain. There was a warm dry wind then came down from the central Whites and ruined there snow. Bretton Woods reported no new snow at the bottom, and 12 at the top. If you want to hike in snow, hike in the central...

    Ok, I'll do it... BIG SNOW STORM(s) 2/17, 2/19!

OK here is what I know so far, the snow that fell was elevation dependent and location depended. Seems the western Whites did poorly, and some northern areas too, like Twin Mountain and Franconia, while others have received some of the highest snowfall I have ever seen. The height of land at...
