    Mt Washington 12/25/13

Yes. I love em. I should buy stock in Grabber :) Some may prefer boots like that, and they are fine for less steep hikes, but for going up something like the lions head winter route I prefer mountaineering boots for better support. Personally I dont use winter boots like that in the prezis.

    Mt Washington 12/25/13

Thanks. No not cold, moisture management is the most important thing for me since I tend to become a sweaty mess. I've attempted a winter and a summer ascent every year since 95 and have only been turned around 3 times. For me I dress for winter ascents as follows. Koflachs and merino wool...

Specific Questions On Goggles For Winter Hiking

I prefer the pink tinted Goggles over the yellow tinted for enhancing terrain in flat light.

Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail and Crawford Path. Left the snow shoes in the car, and opted for traction. Not much snow but lots of water ice and rime. Some of the ice on the upper Ammo Trail requires some front pointing.

    Monadnock via Dublin Trail

Very icy. Traction was needed to stay on the tread way. Old Troy Rd was in good shape but lots of hunters in the area. Safety Orange recommended.

    North Uncanoonuc Timber Harvesting

I know I’m not the only one on this site that regularly hikes on the Uncanoonucs so I figured I’d make other hikers in the area aware that there is a large area of forest in close proximity to some beautiful hiking trails on North Uncanoonuc that is apparently about to be harvested for timber...

    The Info on Mt. Cabot

I've never stopped using the Mount Cabot Trail from heaths gate and have used it 10 of the 11 times I climbed Cabot. I never got to meet Mr. Crane but have spoken to his neighbors that live next to the old gate. They didnt seem to like mr crane much and welcomed me to park on there property...

Belknap 12 in a day routing?

Thanks I'll do that. Ever since my acchilles issue started I'm not really a trail runner anymore, but I still like to grind away at big mileage days, it has slowed me down and gave me a chance to stop and smell the roses on the way. TwB - Do you have a ballpark idea of the mileage for the...

Belknap 12 in a day routing?

Thanks! That's what I was looking for. Anybody know if there's any sections of this route that are hard to follow?

Belknap 12 in a day routing?

I'ld like to do the Belknap 12 in a day. Looking for some info on the best sequence and routing? I'm not looking to do this as a complete loop on foot, I'm open to car hopping where it may be more efficient. I found this TR and was wondering if this was the best sequence? Edit: Just found...

    The Beehive Trail - Acadia

I spent last week up at a sequestered version of Acadia National Park, which I learned to like much better than the normal version. I got to do lots of hiking, paddling and biking but the highlight of the trip was my hike up the Beehive. I would have liked to do The Precipice too, but it is...

    Moonlight over Washington

Friday night was perfect weather for a night time hike up the rock pile. Too bad technical difficulties turned us around at Splitrock Pic links to my Trip Report on my blog. http://www.outdoortripreports.com/2013/02/24/moonlight-mt-washington-attempt-222-313/

    Q2C gets $500,000 boost

I know its been discussed here before, but it would be awesome to develop a connection between Monadnock and the Wapack/Mid State/North South Trail. You could then hike from SouthCounty (as RI locals call it) to Sunapee

    North Uncanoonuc Post-Storm Recon 10/30

After working a triple shift in the EOC for the storm I got a little sleep and then went for a hike on the hill behind my house. The white dot trail has a large Hemlock blown down on the 2nd swithchback after the cave, which may be a good thing because the base of the tree is over the trail and...
