    Monadnock 7/14

Up White Dot and down White Cross. Very Hot today and no wind. Must have been too hot for the bugs even, because there was none. Trails were very dry everywhere. The usual muddy spots and vernal pools were all dry on this side of the hill. In fact Falcon spring was the only place that I saw...

Mt Washington Sat. 7/7/12, up Huntington Ravine/down Great Gulf

Thanks for the HR pics I have never been up that route when when it wasnt white, and would like to do it this summer. Great setup for the Spaulding Lake shot too. Its hard to pick up the context of a place like that in a picture. Nice!

Mt. Waumbek via Starr King Trail 7/4

NH Tramper Commented on the mud the other day, and todays rain didnt help. Lots of mud for the first mile. But it is possible to keep your boots dry with out leaving the trail. In the clouds all day with a few splashes of sun. Possibly worst condition of all: No Grey Jays today:(

Jefferson Washington from the west 6/30/12

Up Caps Ridge Trail - was nice, but black flies were pretty bad. Gulf Side to Washington was 60 MPH winds and 56 degrees (yay no more bugs). Jewell Trail to Boundary Line was fine. Boundary Line to Jefferson Notch appeared lightly used and lightly maintained and soggy but easy to follow. Shoes...

If your looking for vertical ascent, I think prominence (relative height) lists would be the most help. Heres alist of the top 100 in NH. Your range of around 1200' is in this list: NH 100 most prominence

    Waumbek-Cabot Traverse 6/23 - 6/24/12

Thanks I enjoyed the TR. The ridge part of the KRT after Waumbek and then going over the Weeks is a really special section of trail. Trails that receive very little maintenance are so much fun.

By road and by trail, we tackle Pack Monadnock

Nice TR and Great job on the run. I used to live practically right at the start line of that course and have run it several times to the summit, it is a brutal run because its hard to change paces on all the different grades.

Pressie Traverse Comments and Advice Sought

Last year I attempted north to south in a day and ended up falling victim to cramps around eisenhower. I'm no stranger to big milage days, and had done the pemi loop in a day the year prior with no problem but the difference was it was hot and sunny for the Presi day. If you can plan it for a...

Skatutakee Mountain -Hiking in the Harris Center Preserve Hancock NH

On sunday Jeremy and I were free to do a little hike. We both wanted to go west and Skatutakee Mountain in the Harris Center Preserve in Hancock NH looked fun. Our Hike was about 5.3 miles round trip, and it took us 2 1/2 hours. Trails were nice, they were well maintained and well blazed...

Skatutakee Mountain and Thumb Mountain Hancock NH

Looked west instead of north and Skatutakee Mountain in the Harris Center Preserve in Hancock NH looked fun. Our Hike was about 5.3 miles round trip, and it took us 2 1/2 hours. Trails were nice, they were well maintained and well blazed with only one blow down that needed crawling under.
