    NC Hikes ?

Im heading down to North Carolina this weekend and will be in the Raleigh area. Ive never been to the western part of NC before. I have a car and was thinking of making a road trip to the Blue Ridge area. (Mt Mitchell) But if someone recomends something that is closer to Raleigh or a better...

    Monadnock 1/2/12

Old Toll Road to Half Way House Site to White Arrow. Brang my traction (m-spikes) but didnt use them. I probably should have in a few spots. But for the most part good route finding linking ice free rocks did the trick. Above tree line an almost invisible layer of rime on the larger slabs made...

Cabot, Final Week of 2011 Warm-Up Hike, 12/26/2011

Nice! I enjoyed the pics. I love Cabot this time of year. I woke up in cabot cabin every January 1st between 2000 and 2010, and your pics reminded me of my bygone tradition.

    owls head bushwacks and trails

12/24 The Trails were all covered with 3-4 inches of new snow today, and the cold has frozen up the mud in most places. All the proper trails were in good shape and the river crossings were not bad. We descended the owls head slide with out incident but it was a little sketchy for just...

    Urban explorations in Manchester

I ride my mtn bike down the rail trail from Goffstown to that park sometimes. There are some fun mandatory air features that have been built in the woods off the trails in the Piscataquog River Park. Another similar urban park in Manch with a nice trail for a hike is Stark Park

    Carter-Moriah Gorham to Moriah 12/3/11

The trail only had a dusting of snow in most places. Traction wasnt needed until you reached some of the rock slabs with random water ice that was hidden by the dusting of snow on Mt Surprise. About a 1/4 mile below the Mt Moriah summit spur there were a few sections that to stay on the trail...

    Coppermine Trail after big rain

Nice! Coppermine Drainage will always have a special place in my heart ever since a few freinds and I had a pretty sketchy (mis)adventure shwack-skiing down it from the Kinsman Ridge Trail. I gotta get back up there soon. Is the shelter in good shape?

Blinding Reds in the Zealand Valley

Wow, what did you shoot those reds with. I cant seem to get the red green contrast to come out that vibrant. It doesnt look like you used a filter, or PSed em.

    Wapack S to N 9/24/11

Wapack Trail S to N 9/24/11 Trail Conditions were very wet. Trail was well maintained with the exception of the section between Holt Peak and Temple Mountain. Contrary to other reports we found the trail well blazed and easy to follow. I would love to see one of the fast people on this site...

Pack Monadnock, Grand Monadnock, North Pack Monadnock 8/26/11

I had an 8 hour window open up in my schedule yesterday so I had some time to fit in some local hiking. A friend of mine had done these 3 peaks in a day last week so I stole his idea for my trip. 3 Nocks Trip Report

    Mt Olga - Wilmington 8/6/11

The trails on Mt Olga are real pretty with gentle grades. Trail conditions were dry and it was obvious that a lot of recent trimming back of under growth on the sides of the path had been done. My Full TR- Mt Olga 8/6/11

    FKT Presidential Traverse Route ??

Thanks. Not looking to set any records, just looking to use the same scale to see where I am on it. I've been passed by Ryan before, and I'm not nearly that fast.

    FKT Presidential Traverse Route ??

Quick question hoping for a quick answer and nothing more. Does the route that was followed for the current FKT of the traverse include going over the Clay and Franklin summits?

    Almost Presidential

A noteworthy occurence I forgot to mention in my Blog TR was that while ascending the Valley Way Trail I passed a blind man hiking with his service dog. When I came up behind him and his dog we were on a tight sectiion of trail where I couldnt pass, for about 100 feet. When the trail opened...

    First Pemi Loop, 7.2.11

Nice! That section between Garfield and Lafayette seems to take longer than it should either way you go, CW or CCW. I think all the loose cobble through there slows you down a ton. Great Pics.

Portion of Tuckerman Ravine trail closed 7/18/11 for 4-5 weeks for reconstruction

In my oppinion lions head is not inferior. Usually I go up TRT and down Lions Head. But with the closing of the TRT, Lions head may be a conga line on nice days.

    Almost Presidential

As a follow up to my car spot help thread; I got a ride pretty easily from Webster Jackson trailhead to Appalachia from a nice family from Maine who let me squeeze in the way-back of their CR-V and threw their packs on top of me. If your reading this: Thank You. I didnt reach my goal, But It...
