Boston Drink of your choice Night

Just a heads-up with respect to the Sunset Grill. The original Sunset Grill, with the 112 beers on tap and another 400 bottled, is on Brighton Ave (at Harvard Ave) in Allston. It is a three block walk from the Packard Corner stop on the "B" branch of the Green Line. Last spring, the Sunset...

    Insect Repellents..."DEET vs. The World"

I'll second the lack of fluff. Excellent research and information.

Mt Ellen (VT) from the ski trails....

In the spirit of hiking Ellen just like Alpinista, boots are not permitted. You have your choice between sandals and pumps. I can never find pumps that match my pack, so I opt for sandals.

recommendations on hikes in outer Cape Cod (eastham/wellfleet/truro)

Since parking isn't an issue until mid-May, might I suggest walking/hiking the National Seashore. Park at Coast Guard Beach in Eastham (not Orleans) and hike north to Nauset Light Beach. You can either hike back by beach or there is a road which is not very busy at this time of the year with...

NEW ENGLAND FAREWELL TO ALPINISTA and a Boston Beer night!!

I planned on being there, but alas, I am stuck in the office. And, since I saw the announcement in the paper for the person attempting to fill her boots, I guess she's really going. . . Boo! Have fun y'al.

    Winter gear list critique

Great thread so far. My list is much the same as mentioned above. Does anyone carry rope or cord? I have about 40m of 3mm cord that I carry when I go above treeline in the case that visibility is bad to nonexistant.

    Patch

I'd be in for a patch myself. It would be the best Christmas present ever!

Boston Drink of Your Choice Night - December 14, 2006

Drinks, eh? We could make it a North Station pubcrawl: Grand Canal to Beer Works to Fours to Harp to Sullys. Does anyone need to make a pitstop at Hilton's? I can add that.

Oh the wildness of the Whites without Huts...

At The Least. . . You know where the families and inexperienced folks congregate. And, you can avoid the huts or not stop if you choose. Inexperienced people (and families) are going to hike. Look on the bright side: If Galehead was not there, would you prefer to complete with them for...

    Boston Beer Night

The summer reprieve from students is drawing to a close. April & September meyhem will return with the combination of Sox homestands and colleges back in session. I really do love living in this city. The good: The Landing is four blocks from my office. The bad: I will be dolled up...

    Boston Beer Night

I'd recommend against the Sunset only because the BU students are back and it will be quite busy. Perhaps Boston Beer Works near the Garden (whatever it's called these days); Cornwalls in Kenmore Square; The Landing, if the weather's nice, which is adjacent to the Long Wharf Marriott (opposite...

    Limmer Boots

Limmers I have a pair of standards that I bought in March of 2002. Pete looked at my feet, said he knew what size I needed and grabbed a pair. When I tried them on, I thought I felt some slipping forward so he encouraged me to kick the wall ("harder!") a few times. After realizing there...
