Opinions on EMS mountainlight sleeping bag?

i've had mine for 2 or 3 years, it has the old (and better!) logo, and I like it very much-both the bag and the logo:). Mine may be underfilled, i know there were a batch that did not have the amount of down they were supposed to have, but that was corrected long, long ago. I know this cuz i...

wow....so much drama!??!?!?  i hike with hiking friends, take neighborhood walks with most anyone, get pissed with my drinkin' buddies, bike with friends with bikes, play chess with the Sunday Chess Crew, climb with my climbing friends, debate politics with activist friends....etc...

Conditions in Yosemite and Mt Lassen - moved from T&E

Ha! hey, do you have to take a 4WD road (actually really really tame) to get to a trail to get to those springs? i think a few friends and I (relating to nude hiking thread) skinny dipped there once on a cross-county drive as some friends in santa cruz knew about it and told us to check them...

    Bonds question

take 2 and write a trip report in the morning if you can, take two days and stay at guyot. that area is too nice to not take lots of time; and you get a west bond sunset as a bonus. i haven't yet hiked in from zealand, so i can't comment on that, except the flat hike from lincoln is super...

What kind of hiker are you?

i'll get there when i get there i like enjoying everything. its most definitely the journey, not the destination. stopping for views, plants, libations, cool waterfalls is all good. i'll get there when i get there. I'll hike fast too though, if i am in a rush to avoid an impending deluge...

    Hiking in the Nude

Taylor Canyon, Utah. I spent some time hiking around and chillin' nekked. I couldn't help myself, the sun was warm, you can see for miles and miles and the nearest person, besides my girlfriend at the time, was prolly even farther away. of course i'll amend that when i see pics on the internets...

    lost hiker

cotton kills! cotton does kill! but that statement must be used in the context of winter, which i believe people who say it assume it is implied. IMHO, this is where we may disagree but if we step back for a second, we prolly do agree. Cotton takes forever to dry, doesn't wick well and a wet...

What have you found in the woods?

well tarnished quarter yesterday between the hancocks on the ridge i found a quarter in the middle of the trail. it was heads up and very tarnished on one side. my partner, ahead of me, walked right over it. its green color blended in. i left it to give someone else good luck.

Moved to proper forum: How comfortable are you in the woods?

I had to choose the first: I camp all the time with or without others in remote areas. however, i have not yet backpacked solo. I have been out dayhiking alone many times and have camped well off trail in the wilderness with others. i think the hiking part of backpacking alone would be great...

    dog rescue/first aid

my very first backpacking trip we helped out with a dog unable to continue hiking. We had camped at 13falls and were headed back to the parking lot on the 2ed of 3 days. we came across a guy from the boston area with a dog that was done hiking. this was somewhere between 13falls and the redrock...

have you ever hiked to a closed hut expecting it to be open?

mike, bonjour! i didn't spend a lot of time rereading the posts when i tried to show metsky people were making excuses, i quickly cut and pasted. rereading your posts it sounds like you are saying its not obvious that some huts close for the winter season and there is no reason not to assume...
