    Franconia Ridge Training

Okay 7summits, Damon and D. Bow, The meeting time is now slightly earlier, 7am at Lincoln Woods, then we will shuttle a car to the Skook trailhead. Sounds like we all have a decent drive up, but it will most likely be a long, wet day, so let's start early! Looking forward to it! :D Hanna

    Franconia Ridge Training

Okay 7:30am start Sunday at Lincoln Woods parking lot. I have a gray Toyota Matrix with VT plates. We'll go Skook to LW. If the weather forecast changes to REALLY raining that day, then check this thread again for status. Otherwise it is a GO! I will probably camp at Hancock on the Kanc, so...

    Franconia Ridge Training

Dug - sounds like quite a trip! I guess they have to happen sometime :p (poor chippies- they were just hungry) Okay, I've received a lot of great info here, but no offers to join me!? I am now planning for Sunday because the weather is supposed to be better. Come on...who will join me...

Willey what's its name? - MOVED FROM GB

I understand it is Will-ee from Willard, which is a name used in that area quite a bit, but I don't remember where Willard came from. The evening before I hiked the 3 (T, F & W), I was at the Bernerhof Inn in Bartlett and had a conversation with a woman who's grandparents had taken care of the...

    Franconia Ridge Training

Thanks for the info you all. Weather will certainly be a factor no matter what and I will play it safe! I need a difficult hike to get ready for the Presi traverse! I don't mind going back on that ridge if there are no views this weekend. I didn't begin hiking for the 48 and won't stop when...

    Franconia Ridge Training

I am training for 'Pound the Presis' later in June and need the 4 peaks on the Franconia Range for my 48 list, so would like to do them this weekend. Unfortunately, both Sat and Sun have rain forecasted. I would still like to tentatively plan something and finalize later in the week with...

    Happy Birthday Giggy !

I guess that mitten system rivals the one mom used to make with the string between the 2 mitties so that they didn't get lost!

    Everest Attempt for VFTT'ers?

I might be talked into it.....I can be such a push-over  In climbing Kili I have been to 19,340ft and although it was slow moving, I felt pretty good. However, there is the fear of heights issue that would probably rear its ugly head, which could cause some problems in the icefall...

    Franconia Ridge

Woody, I am supposed to be doing a Pemi Loop this weekend - if I can kick my cold :( I am wondering about the trail conditions on Franconia Ridge - any ice left? Could you tell with all the snow you encountered? Sounds like a hike that kept you alert without any trouble :) Thanks. Hanna

Running With the Devil - May 20, 2006

Great job you guys! That was a BIG improvement from last year...if I remember correctly. Congrats for exceeding your time goal Jamie! Running marathons has surely helped that. I remember last year being brutally hot and humid, which is such a challenge in itself. I was hoping to do at least...

46 yr old Sherpa 16th everest summit

I would be really uncomfortable to run into a body that was left up there from someone who died while attempting the climb. I read an account of the Everest disaster (incl. Scott Fisher and Rob Hall) by a woman from Denmark..can't remember her name... Anyway, she described how her group passed...

Piano found atop Britain's highest mountain!

Ben Nevis Bubba - I think there are 3 peaks above 4k in the UK. I was on Ben Nevis a couple years ago, but didn't see the piano as I wasn't digging through rocks. Or maybe it was because my attention was on the British cutie I was hiking with :D
