    Probably a silly question, but.....

Two places in Lincoln, NH are the White Mountain visitor center, just off 93, and Kancamagus Convenience on Main Street, which is the Irving station.

    Looking for relatively flat trails

I don't know how flatish you are looking for, but the lower part of the Gale River trail is fairly gentle. There is a spot that overlooks the river with a nice view of North Twin. A good place to have lunch and turn around.

proposed Acquisition of Temple Mountain as new state park.

They were in pretty good shape this past spring. They probably see some ATV traffic in the summer and fall.

    Black Mtn 9/17

With International Talk Like A Pirate Day fast approaching, it is time to make plans. I'll be doing what I did last year, which is hiking up Black Mountain. Fortunately, New Hampshire has eight of them, so there is always a brand new adventure. This year I'll hiking the one across the street...

Best of 3 short Whites hikes?

I did this last year for International Talk Like a Pirate Day (No, I'm not kidding) and thought it was a great hike. There was interesting forest on the way up, and great views at the top.

Talk to me about Scar Ridge

If you want to cover all the NH highest hundred you could start at the East Pond Trail on the Kanc with a car spot at Loon. That way you can bag 4 NH3Ks in a day! No worries about missing the pond, either.

    Waterfall Hikes in the WMNF?

Fletcher Cascades is off the Drakes Brook trail in Waterville Valley. I don't know the mileage, but it's not too far. They were pretty spectacular frozen.

    Gold Diggah'

I have found gold in the Whites. Maybe it will work out as well on this next 'Talk Like A Pirate Day.'

    Mt. Clough...what's the deal.

I tried from the north from Tunnel Brook road. The woods were mostly open, lots of moose poop, but I couldn't tell you where the cannister is. Have fun!

    Evergreens on Western Slopes

It appears that west facing slopes in New Hampshire are more suited to evergreen growth. Does anyone know why that is, or is it simply my imagination.

    Wapack Questions

    1) Orange would be a good idea during the season. On Nov 11, Dr Wu and I were greeted at the state line with rifle shots. The hunters were pretty close by. I don't know the dates, but I am fairly sure that regular deer season is over in NH. 2) Snowshoes should do it most places. I can think of...

    Pawtuckaway State Park

I definitely wanted to go plunging down the ravines off the North peak trail, but that would have been trespassing. It was a fun hike, on and off trail. I was pleased to get home safely in spite of the marauding Rabbits and Audis.

    Critique this Mt. Washington "Hike"

The new moon will occur on the 30th at 10 PM, so there won't be extra illumination. 12 hours for an 8 mile road walk sounds like a rather slow pace. Maybe leave a little later? Oh, and Wow! that sounds like a fun night!
