    Three-Day Pressie Traverse: June 26-28

Here's a brief trip report from my first ever Presidential Traverse: Started out at Appalachia on Friday and hiked Madison & Adams. A storm rolled in while on Madison so I quickly descended to Madison Hut. By the time we got to Adams, the sky cleared up. Camped at Gray Knob hut. The...

    Devil's Path traverse 6.27.09

Congratulations, all! I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on the DP versus the Pressie traverse. I'm kind of jealous I didn't do the DP that same day but in the opposite direction. But my weekend in the Whites sure made up for it. :)

Old Man of the Mountain "Restoration"

Friggen fancy pants intellectual from Joisey! Why doesn't he just go back home and mess around with his own thousands of square miles of protected forests, swamps and wilderness areas!

    New Jersey AT hike

Glad you enjoyed your trip! That strip of the AT from New York into NJ along the Bellevale/Bearfort Ridge is awesome, isn't it? How far south did you get along the Kittatinny Ridge?

Might be interested in doing AHP if I'm not doing a bigger, more arduous trek.

    Hudson Valley Beer Night!

Something in the Southern Catskills, definitely. Peekamoose and Table are probably the closest and they can be done pretty quickly. But if you want something more challenging and longer, there's of course the classic Friday-BC-Rocky-Lone-Table-Peekamoose traverse in the same area. About a 30...

Mt Taurus, Hudson Highlands, NY March 28, 2009

Looks like a fun hike! First time I did Bull Hill, I descended into the valley between Bull Hill and Breakneck Ridge, completely unaware of the existence of the Cornish ruins. It definitely was a pleasant surprise. :D

Two hikers hurt sliding on ice in NH ravines

An acquaintance of mine was in Huntington Ravine and witnessed one of the individuals falling. Apparently, the person fell head over heel, some 1,000 feet. The guy fell quite a distance, caught himself, then fell again. The guy I know could have sworn the person was a goner but ended up...

Catskill Photo Quiz (contains large inline photos)

#10 looks like it could be BC or maybe even Doubletop. I think Doubletop though, since I remember the slope adjacent to the canister (to the right, in this picture).
