    FYI - Neighbor and I just did a little re-con mission up Success Pond Rd. from Berlin to Carlo Col/Goose Eye trail trailhead and it is clear sailing! Little bit icy underneath, but we were in a 2wd truck. Goose Eye 9am start tomorrow for anyone interested!! (unbroken) :)

    Make room for a cell phone -- the eleventh essential?

    On our PCT hike this year, we hiked in a loose knit group of 10 of us (on and off) for almost 1,000 miles and I was shocked when I realized that out of the 10 of us, Neighbor and I were the only ones not carrying a cell phone! Most of them just used them in towns to call family, hotels, PO, etc...
