Personally, I stick to the trails in Summer and Fall and just do the BP whack in Winter and Spring (unless the water levels are high, which they rarely are in this time of year). I find taking the FB/LB trails both faster and more enjoyable this time of year compared to the slower BP whack...

No spur trails for us. We just did the standard loop with the 9 4k's. Lots-O-trail breaking that day...

I tried it in March 08, and was not able to follow it up. Got lost about 1-1/2 miles from the trailhead and could not find the trail after lots of backing up. Even bushwhacked for a while, but still gave up... Tough trail to follow in winter down low...
