A night at the Cat House! (Garfield Shelter), Jan 7/8, 2012

Nice report and photos. The shot of the new shelter in the snow is neat, looks like a postcard. I also liked the pic from Galehead where someone is nosing their way into the shot. :D

    Cross Rivendell Tr-Vermont 12/1/11

grouseking, your trip reports are quite unique in that you seek out interesting places, not necessarily high peaks, or even smaller peaks for that matter. This looks like a terrific hike through picturesque terrain that I wouldn't normally consider visiting. But now I really want to...

Day 1 of Slabs and Ledges - Welch & Dickey 11-21-11

You've got some really nice photos, thanks for sharing. Welch-Dickey has been a local favorite for about ten years now. We had been hiking it once in the spring and once in the fall every year until this year. Thanks for the fix. That lunar landscape is terrific, very unique as these hiking...

Black Mountain (Lower Summit, Jackson) 11/19/11

Those are some stunning photos. That last one of Echo Lake with the shimmering reflection is ridiculously beautiful !! I wish I could take a photo that was half as good as any one of yours.

Favorite Ponds in the White Mountains

Forest Lake is really cool. Have been there twice and never saw a single person. The first time we went, the gate was open but the place was eerily empty. Saw some bear prints on the beach. The last time the gate was closed so we walked in and again had the place to ourselves. Jericho Lake...

Favorite Ponds in the White Mountains

Not backcountry, but Perch Pond is one of my favorite spots to hang out (small, quiet and peaceful). I also liked Gordon pond, it felt fairly remote. I've yet to see one that I didn't enjoy.

    Low Altitude Weekend 11/11-13/11

Thanks for sharing another of your great trip reports. Your ability to refrain from swearing after filling both boots with cold water and mud is perhaps the most impressive part of this impressive report. :D

Some Southern New England Autumn Rambles

Parker Woodland brings back memories. I used to hike there with my sons (a couple of decades ago) back before we discovered that the Whites were worth the long drive. Nice photos, thanks for sharing.

Mount Stanton and Mount Pickering Trip Report

really nice report, thanks for posting. I don't think I would have seen the snake in your photo if you hadn't mentioned it. Chocoura Lake looks choppy, must have been a windy day!

    Algonquin Trail.....very scenic :)

I don't know what the markings mean, but I know the Algonquin Trail is a gem, one of my favorites in the Whites. I'm hiking vicariously through trip reports this year, and yours are always among my favorites. Feels like I'm right there on the trail myself when I view photo reports from you and...

Oldies Picture, AMC Camp, Six Husbands Trail...Pretty Cool

Really cool old photo. I like the precision used on the sign: 1 7/8 miles to the Guldside, 2 1/4 miles to Jefferson. I wonder when they switched to decimal.

A few photos from Columbus Day weekend

You must have burned a little octane getting to Bondcliff. Kinda crazy that people are swimming in the hotel pool on Columbus Day weekend. I remember blizzard-like conditions on N. Twin one Columbus Day weekend about ten years ago. Thanks for posting, really nice photos.
