Best restaurant for post-hike dinner in Whites

We've eaten there a couple of times. It's a decent little place, friendly service, northern Indian cuisine. It's not the best Indian food I've had (gotta come to Providence for that), but it's a treat to be able to enjoy a nice curry after a hike.

    Acadia

Parkman Mountain/Bald Peak is a nice little loop, hardly saw anyone when I did it last year. Also Mansell/Bernard were very quiet.

    Postcards from Yosemite

Sentinel Dome/Taft Point along the Glacier Point road was a great 1/2 day. There are numerous such hikes near Tuolumne Meadows (Lembert Dome, Elizabeth Lake, Cathedral Lakes, Mono Pass). You can catch a shuttle bus from Yosemite Lodge that will drive you up to Glacier Point and hike the...

    Postcards from Yosemite

Gram, sorry to hear that the snow interfered with some of your hiking plans. Sentinel Dome was such an easy hike with absolutely stunning vftt. You'll just have to go back. :D I bought a book of Yosemite hikes (can't remember the title or author offhand) but it wasn't that great. I think...

    Postcards from Yosemite

We were there two years ago in early June and there was little snow to be found along Tioga Road. Your pictures of Tenaya Lake look very different from mine. Thanks for sharing the photos. I can't wait to get back there (some day).

Four Summits On the Quiet Side of Mount Desert Island 6/8/10

Very nice. We are taking our gradnson to Acadia in August. Your recent reports and photos are getting me more excited about the trip, thanks for sharing. It's always great and encouraging to run into someone who's still hiking later in life. I once ran into an 80th birthday party on the...

    Mt. Carrigain, 6/12/10

Finally, this hike resolved an issue that I've been puzzling over for years: at what point would the declining curve of my strength intersect the ascending curve of Tony's? Answer: Saturday. That's funny. I started hiking the 4ks with my son Ben when he was 13 or so, and I used to tailgate him...

EMS not standing behind their products

I believe they were the Flash model. I really liked the boots and couldn't believe the way the heel fell apart. I guess I was lucky to run into the right sales person and get a replacement pair. This was in the Cranston, RI store.

    Big Daddy lives...2010!

I remember meeting you along the Kanc about a year ago when a number of cars had pulled over for a Big Daddy sighting. It's nice to see he's survived another winter. Thanks for posting the photos, which are excellent as always.

EMS not standing behind their products

I think it depends on the failure. In the case of my boots, I had hiked in them numerous times but wouldn't consider them abused. Almost half of one heel separated and fell off. I took it back to the store because I'd never seen a boot come apart like that, and the salesman confirmed that a...

EMS not standing behind their products

I just returned a pair of two-year-old Garmont boots to EMS, without a receipt, and they gave me a new pair. A chunk of the heel was gouged out after a recent hike. The first person I spoke with said there was nothing they could do. Luckily for me, another employee came by as I was about to...
