Plowing Of Hiking Lots And Winter Bushwhacks

Just took a drive up Little River Road. The property along both sides and the end of the road which has always been posted, now has new signs and a path to the river which people used to go swimming, is roped off with a sign. The gate at the bridge that goes over the river was open and it looked...

When does a memorial become trash in a backcountry setting?

Good idea Tim. Too bad the person putting them up didn't have a plan to take them down rather than just leave them to deteriorate. They all look nice now but in a couple of months it will be a sad display. People that have an issue with the execution of this should voice their opinion on the...

Yes - they have redone the place - completely gutted the kitchen and made it a nice cozy place. Huge servings! The couple that own it have been in the business for 20 years.

Temporary Closure of Lincoln Woods trail

$75 fine - Hah! Bet the signage is more along the lines of what they had up for the Dry River Bridge which I suspect was really more about liability as many many people crossed it.

Temporary Closure of Lincoln Woods trail

Wrote to the Forest Service about this - first is my note (yeah I can be very direct) followed by the reply : Seriously - your going to close the most utilized trail in Whites? Ruin vacation plans for hundreds if not thousands that visit just to take the kids out to Franconia Falls? You know...

Footbeds - what type do you use?

If you decide to go with an aftermarket footbed, be sure that you try them on for size. Just because you take a size "X" shoe, doesn't mean the same size in a foot bed will work. Stand on several different sizes and get one that supports your correctly - you can always trim the front down if...
