Using the topo map that comes with Terrain Navigator Pro it appears that the end of Sawyer River Road is about 780 feet from the center of the bridge, so looks like it just makes it.

Yeah - lot's of little mistakes have been made that have been misleading, but given the fact that things are changing quickly, and some of the people out in the field are not familar with the area that they have been tasked with working at, overall the Forest Service, AMC, DOT, and others have...

    Light trail clearing in WMNF

Pretty much a standard practice by many to clear small blowdowns that haven't been dealt with yet, especially after storms.

Mt Nancy trailhead is also reachable using Rte 302 from the West :> The person I reached at the Notchland Inn this morning was very concerned about reports that the road is closed - he stressed it is restricted to prevent lot's of traffic driving all the way to the bridge to have to turn...

A bunch of trail reports and seeking some intell on Owl's Head

There is a Meetup hike going there from Lincoln Woods on Saturday, so if you wait until after that you will have some first hand reports. We have done Owl's Head from the north before in a dry time - Twin Brook trail to Lincoln Brook trail - and it was extremely wet. With all the rain we are...

I just called the Notchland Inn which is well past the Willey House who confirmed that Route 302 from the West (Twin Mountain) is OPEN. Their is a DOT truck at the top of the notch turning people away who are trying to go all the way to Bartlett, Glen, or North Conway, but letting anybody who is...

That is correct!!!!!! People are getting confused by the truck at the top of the notch I think and what is on the NH511 site where they mention the Willy House, but suspect they use that as the only well known landmark. Suspect that the Davis Path parking lot is accessable as well since it is...

We can confirm the DOT truck at the top of the notch. When we told them we were going to the Ripley Falls parking area the response was "I have no idea where that is, but your good for another 10 miles" On the return later in the day there were 3 Forest Service Rangers with maps assisting...

Yes you can. We dropped a car today and did a traverse of Tom, Field, Willy. At the top of the notch they is a road block, just telling you that you can only go another 10 miles. There were 3 FS rangers there with maps directing people how to go to Bartlett/North Conway the last time. FYI - saw...

Paradox - yes, Rte 3 to 115 to Rte 2 to Gorham. No sign of any damage. Hiked Moriah, ascending via Stonybrook, descended via Carter Moriah. river crossing on Stonybrook as a non-issue, water is low, trail was in great shape.
