    Gentlemen thieves?

We returned from a hike Saturday to find officers from Lincoln and Franconia in the Old Bridle Path/Falling Waters trails parking lot. They had come across somebody who they believe was trying to break into a van. Unfourtuantly they were only standing behind the van when they pulled in so not...

    Baxter & Hamlin Peaks Feb 28 - Mar 3

Sorry - but no sign of previous traffic - even though we saw a group of 5 on the ridge two days earlier. Heck - there was no sign that we had been up Cathedral trail by the time we descended the day we did Baxter peak. Amazing how fast trails can get filled in with winds blowing the snow around.

Getting to the trailhead for Abraham (Maine)

We were there Dec 31 and the other car that was with us made across the last bridge just before the road takes a final sharp right. It was a small car siimilar to a civic, but we did have to push it and shovel it out due to the snow depth and the low clearance. So just watch the snow depth as...

    Baxter & Hamlin Peaks Feb 28 - Mar 3

Yes - left the skis at Roaring Brook and snowshoed up to Chimney Pond. On the descent several rode their sleds down while others barebooted or used snowshoes. Jonathan - So true, Baxter is a magnificent experience any time of the year, but even more so in Winter.

    Baxter & Hamlin Peaks Feb 28 - Mar 3

Wow! What an experience to hike in Baxter State Park during the winter. Seven of us spent 5 days in the park and were successful in our attempt to hike Baxter and Hamlin peaks. After arriving at Chimney Pond, we all agreed that even without hiking to a summit, the trip was worth the time and...

    DNS problems with weather.gov

Comcast has issues with their DNS servers from time to time that impacts some users by area. Last time that happened we changed to Googles on our router so all the PC's in our house would use it -haven't seen an issue since.

favorite/most convenient town in the Whites ?

Something to take into consideration is how much house you get for your money and the tax rate which can vary greatly from town to town - even neighboring towns. Twin Mountain has a very low tax rate compared to Bethlehem. Also look at how water and trash is billed. When it comes time for us to...

    Greenleaf Trail broken?

Did the Kinsman Ridge trail today - with the snow on Monday night any sign of previous hikers had been wiped away. Don't think too many people do the Greenleaf trail in the Winter, so between the snow storm Sat nght, and Monday night it is unlikely it is broken out.
