Wildcat D via Polecat ski slope.

Sept. 24th. If you were not fatigued by our efforts on Tuesday, well documented by Cymbidium under Autumn Equinox, well....we were, so we voted for something a lot shorter and easier for our Thursday outing. A perfect day for this relatively short hike. Clear skies and views of the...

Sept. 5th and Sept. 7th Twoweeks ago Rory, aka. The Hancocks via Hancock Notch, Cedar Brook and Hancock Loop Trails

September 1st 2009 Trail Conditions: In very good condition with just a few muddy areas except for the Ridge Link on the Loop trail where those two large mud holes are getting deeper and wider and harder to bushwhack around! Hope that area makes it onto the AMC trail crew's list next year...

Found no ore but views galore!

8/27/09 Cymbidium and I wanted somethng short and sweet today as household chores called us! We chose Iron Mt. near Jackson, on our "52" list. As they say "getting there is half the fun" and the road description in the AMC book is very accurate, a gravel road rough, narrow with many washed out...

Tom, Field and Willey with views!

The OTHH group enjoyed the company of some Maine members as we set out on a lovely day to do T,F &W. Clear skies, cool temps and low humidity made this a great day to be out in the mountains. As we gathered at the Depot parking lot an elegant red fox stopped on the far side of the tracks and...

Carrigain via Signal Ridge July 25th

Our goal today was Owl's Head but after consultation with Silverfox about water levels we settled for Carrigain... a good choice. Discussed the idea of bushwhacking to avoid high water. The decision was made to chance getting the tops of our boots wet instead of drying off all those wet trees...

July 14th 2009 Trail conditions: Some mud on Valley Way but overall in great condition. Equipment needed: Warm and weatherproof clothing. Comments: Having watched all the high summit forecasts I was uncertain we would do this hike today. Stopped at Pinkham Notch for advice and the young...

The Osceolas via Mt. Osceola Trail

June 30th 2009 Mud, standing water of up to 3" and slippery rocks always makes for a great hike? With the forecast for more afternoon thunderstorms Silverfox, Frank and I took off a little faster than the rest of the group hoping to get down before the weather caught up with us. The trail...

Cannon Mt. via Hi-Cannon and Kinsman Ridge Trail

June 27th 2009 Trail conditions: Up Hi Cannon which surely is the poorest marked trail in the Whites! It was wet, rooty and muddy with several downed trees (goesunders!). Down Kinsman Ridge to Lonesome Lake. Kinsman ridge was just wet and steep! Lonesome Lake trail had lots of muddy areas...
