    Katahdin 2009

I could be talked into going on this. I need BSP to wrap up the NE 67. If timings right I wouldn't mind tagging along. Generally a fast hiker, but I don't mind a slow hike either. Please keep me in the loop.

Does a slowing economy change how much you Hike

No, not really. Other competing events (running/work/travelling) actually affect my hiking more than the slow economy. What we need to do is be smart and keep car pooling, or using other means to get to trailheads, even though the means (bus/train) are limited up in NH. Any way to keep the...

In need of therapy? Try Isolation

I enjoyed Hiking Isolation, we took the Glen Boulder trail and then went "down" to isolations summit, and then headed out on Rocky Branch. It was a fun day! Good TR! You survived your fall and at least you didn't have to hike out in one boot, LOL! :p

Steve, Congratulations and it was awesome to be there for your #100, especially since it was Baldplate, our nemesis from November 2005! I'll send you the video I took of your grand march to the summit marker too as soon as possible.

Liberty, Flume and seeing stars in daytime!

No, this was a legitimate "act of God" I would think......... :p Other than my legs looking like someone beat them up I am fine, luckily.... :) Now to choose new boots, and find out how to get the Leki poles replaced from Leki.

Liberty, Flume and seeing stars in daytime!

This was supposed to be just another hike into the White Mountains to revisit 2 of my favorite mountains in Franconia Notch...Flume and Liberty. The plan was to hike up the Liberty Springs trail, make a right on the ridge and take Franconia Ridge Trail over to Liberty and Flume and then do the...

    The carbon footprint of hikers

I was part of a program a few years back to test drive the Smart car in Cambridge. While compact and easy to maneuver, the thought of taking it onto a main road in the USA like 128, or even Storrow Drive or Soldiers Field road in Boston, or Rt 3 or I-93 in NH was frightening. The car just has...

1981 AT killer linked to new shootings

Thats awful. Hard to believe this guy killed 2 AT hikers in 1981, and only gets 15 years? Then gets out and (allegedly) tries to do it again years later in the same spot. Hopefully he'll get more than 15 years this time.
