    Presidential traverse - August 19

Nat and I are planning a traverse for next Saturday. We'd be leaving from Appalachia around 4-4:30am. Anybody interested? Since there's is only 2 of us and 1 car, it would make logistics much easier. :) Let me know.

    Frodo & Arm tackling Aconcagua!

There was a lot of unconsolidated snow. All the parties that I heard of turned back because it made progress very slow with high avalanche risks (especially on the direct route). Apparently, they had more snow this year than usual. That been said, that was a month ago, so conditions should...

    Aconcagua pictures

Actually, garbage and fecal matter... When you get to base camp they give a nice plastic bag with your climbing permit number on it for use during your climb. It is mandatory to return the bag when you get back down to base camp. You can no longer do your business where ever you please and...

    Aconcagua pictures

You are correct. There are some savings to be made by going unguided. I would have to compare notes with Frodo to quantify. In our case, we went with an outfitter because of the timing. Unfortunately, I did not have time to handle all the logistics involved because of work.
