    Ticks are back in force

Lyme vaccine Sadly, there was a Lyme vaccine for humans available awhile back, but it was "discontinued by the manufacturer, citing low demand". Guess they didn't survey the hikers... http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd-vac/lyme/default.htm There is one for dogs, however, and "new dog-mom"...

Mount Nancy (NH) - Sunday 5 April 2009

EarlyBird65 and I are heading to Mt Nancy this Sunday, meeting at the Nancy Pond trailhead at 9am. If there's time, we'll hit Bemis as well. Pace will be pretty relaxed. We'd love some company - post here or PM me.

    Pico on Wednesday 4 Mar?

The wonder of the ski slope is its lack of obstacles! I will admit though that steering takes a bit of practice... having all 4 limbs free for flailing has kept me out of trouble. :p

    Pico on Wednesday 4 Mar?

Seeking hiking companions for an ascent of Pico on Wednesday, taking either the ski slope or the Sherburne Pass trail up and bringing a swiss-bob for descent via the ski slope. - I can likely offer a couch to crash on if you're traveling from a ways away - 3 extra "Quicky Sleds" are available...

Hike Jay/Big Jay or ski Jay Peak? Friday 19th Dec

I've found a carpool buddy to get up to Jay on Friday. However, it's only the 2 of us so far, so he's solo skiing and I'm solo hiking. We'd both vastly prefer company... Anyone? There are a few more seats in the car and, for hikers, extra ASODs for descent!

New Hampshire Fire Tower Cut Backs

I have yet to visit Green Mtn, though I hope to make it there this year... Those seeking a fire tower in NH with an open cabin should try Smarts Mtn. It isn't an "active" firetower (hence not on the Fire Tower Quest list), so the cabin isn't locked. The Smarts tower also has a couple more...

New Hampshire Fire Tower Cut Backs

They only come out at dusk and like most critters, they're pretty timid around people. We were told, though, that if you stumble across a sow and her piglets, you need to climb the nearest tree ASAP.

    Upper Valley Beer night...soon

I'm in for UV beer night, & 7Barrel works for me. I'm willing to drive down for a trip to McNeill's at some point, but if the evening resembles my last visit to their brewpub, I won't be driving back...
