If I had a dollar for every dead body body that I was led too on the edge of a tra.........
Just kidding. Another crappy story of a life lost. It souds like probably just a natural event that is part of the cycle of life, but still, to the family. it is a lifetime of rich memories and...
We've spent the last 10 days out west and some time here in beautiful Whistler, British Columbia. we've been here before, and for a few years now, we've (Nick and I) have been eyeing a few prominant peaks just north of town known as the Wedge Group. Specifically, we've wanted to do WEART PEAK...
I'd actually suggest the loop the other way......... park at the McKenzie trail because. 1) it avoids the hassle of all that 2) It's not that far of a walk and 3) the most important reason............
The walk between Moose/McKenzie is pure heaven. One of the best in the whole DAKS for my money.
Got a bit of a late start (8:30, big mistake). Was a little discouraged when the ranger informed me at the gate that, to his knowledge, noone has successfully summited Gothics from that side in about 2 weeks. Oh well.
Started out 1-2 feet of rapidly disappearing packed snow on Lake Road. We put...
Definite nomination for TRIP REPORT of the year for me. Excellent stuff.
I have only #3 & #1 left, and I'm hoping to get #1 in the next week or two. Likely solo if the conditions hold up. Neil's out there today, so I'm anxiously awaiting his word on conditions from the open backside.
I've...
Any one that you do with the "human lighting rod", Doug Hillman :D
I like the scenic trail, though for the work it takes you to do it, it's not NEARLY as scenic enough for my taste.
hmmmmmm, lots of stuff. I have a few BIG plans, mostly out west.
I do plan on finishing a 4 compass point of a very tuff ADK summit. Plus, add a few bushwhacks sprinkled in here and there. I also still have a bunch of peaks on my "I don't give a crap what I'm climbing list" that I NEED to...
The view that greeted us our first go round was STUNNING :D
Been up there on subsequent nice days and found the "actual" view to be quite nice. The views from the slide as you go up it are among my favs.
They don't do "official stats", but I do know, at least in the limited sample of "induction" meetings I've been to, they do go out of the way and at least acknowledge (by name) the youngest and oldest finishers of a particular class if they are there. Pretty sure they are mentioned in Peeks too...
From it's location description (in the book), it's in a real steep area on the side of ST#1 at around 2900' off the east bank of Cold Brook. I've passed nearby the area on "gentler" west side of Cold Brook headed up #2. I never saw any evidence of a crash site up there. Then again its...
Took you long enough  .......... haha.
You guys are the greatest. Way to go.
p.s. did Brian ever get cold, or like feel one einsy bit of discomfort along the way. Just asking. :D
Can we propose a backcountry bridge over the flowed lands
You could always swim if that did not work. I know great swim coach willing to provide BC swim lessons at a reduced group rate.
