    Cougar came from South Dakota

I haven't been in the Texas Taco (still open) in 5 or 6 years so I don't know about the woman w/ the mohawk. My 23 yr old daughter (college student) currently sports a multi colored mohawk.

property owner sued for faulty tree stand

Had a similar lawsuit. A hired logger was injured (broke his leg badly) on my upstate property. My insurance company refused liability responsibility because of the type of policy I had. (nonprimary residence or some other bs) Long story short I won the case BUT dropped +/- $5K on my defense...

    Cougar came from South Dakota

This post prompted by unadogger who apparently lives in my neck of the woods. About 10 years ago while paddling thru the great swamp in Patterson my wife and I came upon a mountain lion on the west shore (the section between Patterson environmental park and Texas Taco/Rt 22).I believe there is a...

In my winter peak bagging heyday we often launched our trip from Davis Motel in Schroon Lake. Rates were cheap ($50/ room +/- 7 years ago).

Munro bagger Munros... I've got 20 so far, including all the peaks mentioned in this thread. Long way to go, not sure when I'll get back. Glen Coe is one of the most beautiful places in the world and the Claigach Inn, the pub Dr D mentioned, is a world class place to imbibe. My last visit in...

    46

This last post got me curious, I did most of my 1st round of 46 in the summers of 67-69 at Camp Mohican, a YMCA camp on the east shore of Lake George. I looked at the roster and altho Cramer apparently hiked with some other group, there were about a 1/2 dozen finishers from my camp listed in...

    Eagles anyone?

As my lake "ices out", I spotted a bald eagle on the ice (probably scavenging ice fisherman leftovers) yesterday on a walk around the lake. He took flight about 15 minutes later, always a thrill to see. John

    Eagles anyone?

Bald eagle sightings are not uncommon where I live in Putnam Lake NY.We're about 20 miles as the eagle flies from the observation point in Ct. that Chip mentioned. This thread has solved a personal mystery of mine; where have they been this winter?? Answer: Our lake has been frozen since...

    Wanzer Mt

Exploration of unmarked trails and not so old logging roads in Pootatuck State Forest near Squantz Pond in New Fairfield led to my discovery of this nice little peak. After bushwacking up an interesting rocky hill to see what the top was like, it had a 10' stone monument with 360' views if you...
