Tripyramids and a Test of Physical Fittness and Mental Well Being

It was great meeting you and Dan...and of course to see Doug again! and you didn't look like you were struggling at all by the time we met on Mid Tri...it's a tough hike for anyone so you were only "trail weary". But we did help you out...all the black flies followed us down the North...

    Travel duffels?

Hey Jay, Have you considered using a hockey bag? I used mine when I went to the Sierra's last year and it worked great, plus it's a little cheaper than duffles but a lot more sturdy and more side pockets. http://www.hockeymonkey.com/bags-equipment.html Good luck, Bill

    Abandoned Hikers, a new trend?

I received an email about this thread and feel a need to help alleviate some misunderstanding, as this thread seems to have gone astray and turned into a thread on our group instead of the original purpose. The title was “abandoned hikers” and the idea of just bailing on fellow hikers which I...

    Gotta get'em

Hangin' with KenC on this one. I love my BD contact straps. They did need some readjusting after the first trip, but once they're tuned in, they're excellent. Heavy enough for ice and strong enough that rocks don't bend the points (common problem with the lightweight and aluminum ones) I was...

What's the oldest piece of gear you own and still use?

I have a wooden handled Inter Alp ice ax that I bought in 1980. It still "works" fine but I did finally breakdown and purchased a BD Raven this winter. I'll still take the wooden one for walks though....it's like an old friend that's been on most of my journeys.
