Bomber crash site on Fort Mt.

It's toward the east side of the ridge, maybe 2/3 of the way, about a 100 vertical feet down and a few hundred lateral feet from the top of the ridge. I don't have coordinates. If you have google earth you can actually see the tail on there and that will give you accurate long and lat.

Bomber crash site on Fort Mt.

This thread should give you all you need to know. http://www.vftt.org/forums/showthread.php?t=14066&referrerid=2627 It's not a tough trail to follow to Fort, then it gets a bit hairy. Last time there was plastic flagging off the peak if you travel east along the ridge until the slight herd...

Whatta Weekend - 5 hikes, 6 peaks, and finished my own list!

I had grand plans on Friday. It's always easy to dream while still in the office at 4pm after a long week. I'm going to hike 6 mountains tomorrow! No, 7! It was to be a solo day since all the bushwhackers were busy or in NH. Also, my girlfriend isn't quite sold on the no trail thing yet. Sooo...

    Upper Valley Beer Night interest?

I suggest we all meet at the Gile Mtn. trailhead at 7pm. This will get us up in ~20 minutes in time for a (hopefully) nice sunset. Then back to the Inn and served by 8:00. Directions to the firetower are simple. From the I91 Norwich/Hanover exit, travel west through the middle of town past the...

    Upper Valley Beer Night interest?

Sold. 7:30 it is. Not to stump or anything, but if folks get into town at 7, we could hit the Gile Mtn firetower 5 miles up the road for a Views and Brews hike and be at the pub at 8.

How many New England 3ks have you done?

My total's pretty darn low. This would make sense since I haven't even finished the HH yet. I started working on the HH list when I wasn't done with the 67, and now am working on the 3kers since I'm close to the HH. Call it cold feet. Hoping to get at least 5 this weekend in VT. Working on the...

    Upper Valley Beer Night interest?

heck, I have 5 aging in the cellar right now. I am a fan of 7 barrel due to the atmosphere and the food. I'm more of a fan of the Norwich Inn because I know the brewmaster, their brews are better, and one can enjoy it outside with free bar mix. I'm down for anything. My place by the river, W...

A day on the AT with M&M aka hikethe115

I'll be picking up M&M at VT 14 this afternoon for an evening of swimming (hopefully. yucky weather), homebrews, and whatever she needs to get done. Tomorrow morning we are both being dropped off at vt14 and hiking to the nh border together. So she'll be crossing the line sometime tomorrow...

    Two rescues on Tuesday

ugh. Compound ankle fracture. That sounds particularly painful. Good luck to them on the loooong rehab road. Do SAR folks sometimes come across injuries that give them pause? Or are you inured to blood and guts/spectacularly focused on the task at hand? Seeing something like this would probably...

    Death in Grafton Notch

Talking to my parents this evening yielded some bad news. Evidently a man has died from head injuries after taking a fall somewhere in Grafton Notch. He was hiking alone. I don't doubt the credibility of this info since my mother knew the man, but I can't find news online to back it up. If...

    Consider Your Booty Plundered!

So yesterday morning I read the post about the treasure hunt and was rather intrigued. Not by the treasure, but by the riddle. Any problem solving combined with peaks has got to pique my interest. So I emailed the riddle to my hiking buddy (also one of VFTT's newest members under the handle of...
