New Slides: First Ascents and Naming

So much gets lost in translation when reading a post or an e-mail. So lets talk about something fun. When the slides do open and they are safe, we should get a small group together to check some of them out. My ski ability is not good enough for slides :( but I am more than willing to "Hough...

New Slides: First Ascents and Naming

So, they're building a trail up the slide. I think you missed my concern - the fact he put others in danger as well as himself and whomever else was with him was my point. If he was doing recon work for the ADK, I apologize for my misunderstanding. I also do appreciate all they do to get the...

    High Peaks from Long Lake

Upper Works Road got hit very hard. Last I heard, up to 70 trees down from BR Road to Upper Works. I think they closed all trails along that road as well.

ADK optimistic some trails will reopen next week

Try the Sentinel Range - they are pretty big and you will get some kind of fix. Maybe the stick in the eye fix, or the deep laceration to the forearm fix, maybe even a femur eater fix. If you aren't up for that you can always go to the Sewards or Whiteface and Esther.

    DEC stationed at trailheads

They have been writing tickets as well, from what I understand. I heard they caught a guy on Cascade and as they were driving by, they saw them writing a ticket. That will be $250 please, hope it was a great hike!

New Slides: First Ascents and Naming

Didn't think it looked like you, and didn't seem to me like you were that kind of hiker. I was kind of shocked and reacted a little strong, but I've heard it from customers all week that also don't have the common sense to go elsewhere and all that scares them off is the fine. This kind of...

New Slides: First Ascents and Naming

Very true Jack. PUMA did you get permission to go in? I sure hope so! If not you are definitely setting a bad example for hikers who are suppose to be responsible. Along with that setting himself up for that 15 days in jail. Don't you know the DEC rangers watch this website for trail...

    2011 Adirondack BBQ and Gathering

Trail work Thank you for offering to provide some trail work for Champlain Area Trails. We are still deciding which trail(s) to work on. I'll let you know soon. I expect the tools will be loppers, hand saws, and weed whips. A few hammers and nail bags would work also. Also, is 8:30 an...
