    Adirondack bbq

My plan on Saturday is to kayak across Paradox Lake and hike up Peaked Hill and bushwhack a small Mountain named Narrows Mountain. This is not an all day affair, so some extra paddling through the narrows might be in order. But we will put in at the West end of the lake if we can, if not at the...

The campground is north of Lewis on Route 9. You can not miss it. If you miss it, you should probably have waited to start drinking. Bring whatever you would like. As I mentioned before dogs are allowed but they need to be leased-as most all campgrounds require. A potluck is simply bring a...

Just a friendly reminder that we will be having a summer gathering at our place in Westport. The dates will be August 6th-9th. As always anyone is welcome to pitch a tent in the backyard. As August gets closer we post a more detailed itinerary. We just wanted to put the dates out there so you...

    Johannsen Face (ADK's)

Wait!! Dude- Brain and I have been eyeballing that for quite a while now. It's stupid steep, I would say in wet or icy conditions a near death trap or in the least an unsuccessful summit. We should all get together for this one.

Adirondacks Gathering 8-9-08 - Pictures and stories

So this is the deal. This little get together will be the 2nd weekend in August every year. That way everyone can put it on the calandera whole year ahead of time. Hell, I think they are even selling 2009 calanders as we speak-no excuses next year. Even when it rained it was warm enough to...

6th annual Adirondack Gathering and BBQ August 7-10

SoBrian and I are looking at bushwhacking the Johansen Face of Haystack on Friday unless weather turns really ill. For saturday we are going to bushwhack 3 peaks behind Taylor pond. A little easier day if someone wants to join in. That way we can be back for the party early. I believe the peaks...

6th annual Adirondack Gathering and BBQ August 7-10

The last loop I did of MacNaughton was up South MacNaughton Drainage and down to Wallface Ponds and back over Indian Pass. But a loop is always a great option for most any hike, IMHO.

Food is never an issue. Ice cream however would be awesome. I'll save room in my freezer. I'm going to get the old grill a going and cook up some Mahi Mahi for BBQ part. We will have two grills here if someone else needs grill space. I just had two small sized loads of wood my dad dropped...

Very happy to see a bunch shouting out. I'm looking forward to this just like every year. Hard to believe where a year goes so fast. Not sure what I'm BBQing this year but I'll keep you posted. Anyone up for a bushwhack from Porter to Big Slide down to and across Railroad Notch?

Thanks for all the great info. That will help make things much lighter. I'm not usually all about how little carry but this is a exception to the rule.

Bears are active right now I can't say for that region. I saw bear tracks on a couple occassions this winter in the snow. Active can happen.

    Garmin 60CSx - disappointed

Actually it's very good for certain things. Unfortunatly you are right, it is limited in that way. The 100K maps are very generic. The 24K maps are National Parks East, Cantral and West. They are very good, and very accurate, if you want to explore the the parks it includes. If not, it's very...
