Just about all you need to know about how to tackle the Bonds

Since you mentioned that one hiker in your group needs this for the peakbagger list, biking Lincoln Woods would not be a good idea since he won't be able to count it since it wasn't all on foot.

wide mouth, narrow, lexan, plastic.... solar pannels?

Sounds like a lot of money for a sketchy item. I'd stick with a Petzel head lamp.

Military Jet Manuevers over Sandwich Dome

Thanks for all that great information on the A-10's. Living in Waterville Valley I see them all them time --sometimes real low, passing through the hills. One day, skiing on the hill I heard a loud noise and thought it was someone right on my heels, but when I stopped to turn around and see who...

    Canisters: How to build?

What are these canisters?? Do they have them on the mts in NH??

    Labor Day weekend weather

Can never accurately predict the weather in the mts. One mountain can have the sun and another have rain or clouds. Today was suppose to be sunny. It was in Waterville Valley but I climbed Garfield and it was in the clouds until we got back to the car.

    Fog navigating the northern Presidentials

I did like the idea of having some cord to use, so I went to a hardware store and bought some Mason cord--bright yellow. This type of cord is very light so I won't mind carrying it on my hikes. Cut about 50 feet to throw into my pack in case of such an emergency.

    Zealand & Hale, A Dog's Tale

Is George getting a screen name? Great trip report-especially from a canine.

    mt Isolation

Is it hard to find the bushwack trail from Rocky Branch Trail on the way to Isolation. It seems like alot of hikers do this. If this is common, why hasn't the USFS cut a trail this way.

    GPS repair options

We did the same and they repaired. The only bump in the road was to get through to a person--they keep you waiting a long time. Good luck.

    Boot Woes.....

I have Limmer boots and love them. While hiking the Bonds we meet a fellow who bought his 40 years ago for $35 and is still hiking in them!! Skibones

    Don't Feed the Bears

I thought it was against the law to attract the bears--this case the bird feeders were the attraction. Why isn't he get fined for having the bird feeders out. I called the Fish and Game early summer because one of my neighbors loves to feed the birds and this causes bears and coyotes to come...

North and South Twin, Galehead Mt. 8/05

Thanks-You don't hear of many people doing it that way. When I find someone that wants to do all three I'll report back.

North and South Twin, Galehead Mt. 8/05

Sounds like the views are something to look forward to. Does anyone recommend going up Galehead first on the Gale River Trail and then crossing over to South Twin and then to North Twin and down North Twin trail. I guess this would be good if there were two cars. Otherwise go back the same way...

Great photos and congratulations. What's next now that you finished the 48?

    Warning

Maybe if there were more signs like this at other trailheads hikers would be more careful when hiking in the woods. I know I would hate to be on channel 9 news with a reporter saying I was unprepared or careless. I would hate to have SAR out there risking their own lives because of my...

I agree-I never wear cotton when doing any strenuous activity. But I do like using a cotton bandana.

First Hike in the Whites - Request for Advice

I just finished the Bonds and Bondcliff with three of my friends. The views were great but the long walk over all those boulders would not put it at the top of my list.
