    Crampon extender bar's

Yeah, I'm waiting to see what happens when I actually use them. They are made by Grivel and the instructions they cmae with say that the little nubby thing is for adjustment to smaller sizes. I tried flipping them upside down but the thing still got in the way. They seem o.k. now but we'll see.

    Crampon extender bar's

I got a pair of extender bars for my Grivel G10 crampons from www.mtntools.com and there great except I had to squeeze down the little tab with a pair of vicegrips to get them to fit. Anyone else have this problem? --Shawn

My highs are: enjoying the views, getting to the summit, getting back to the car in one piece, reflecting on the day with my family and friends! My low's are those damn nine beers the night before :D :D ! --Darwin

    Hking by myself

I think there has been some really helpful advice from everyone here, and IMO the only way to get used to soloing is to solo. I feel like the only way to over come your fears is to face them head on. I solo most of the time (not always by choice but due to my schedule) and I have been spooked...

What type of vehicle do you drive?

My wife and I trade off between a 95 Subaru impreza s with 130k+ and a 98 Nissan pathfinder. I like the pathfinder for the cargo space and Bose sound system, but you can't beat the subaru with gas prices the way they are. I drove the subaru up to BSP a few weeks ago with no problems and...

    deliverance moments

It was in early November 2003 on a weekday and I pulled up to the edmands path trailhead to hike Mount Eisenhower. It was snowing at a pretty heavy clip with very little visibility. When I got out of my car I realized there was a car right next to mine with a man sleeping across the front...

    Where is YOUR Mosely Woods?

Maudsley and Moseley are two different places, however very close in name and proximity to each other. I frequent both places and they are each great to visit when the mountains are out of the question, or just for a nightly walk or winter snowshoe.

Complaints from a child. How much is enough?

This weekend, my 5 year old hiked Mt. Cardigan. We saw many families of various ages and it was a very enjoyable day. However, although it is MY passion and I hike every free moment that I have, my son does not yet share this desire. SHOULD HE? At five years old, should he be tracked in to a...
