    I agree. I guess I am kind of the opposite of most in that I prefer snowshoes to barebooting. I just think they are a lot of fun to use so for me it's not a question of do I need them but can I use them.

    Thanks to all for your advice and comments, they are most helpful. We are very excited about going, wish it was tomorrow! The Ring of Steall looks to be a great hike so that is definately on the itenary. Between now and when we go I will figure out how to post pictures. Rugger

    Advice Planning Long Trail Hike

    About 6-7 years ago on memorial day weekend, we encountered about 3 feet of snow on the trail on the backside of Bloodroot Mtn (between rt 4 and Brandon Gap). We were hiking the section and bailed out down to Chittenden as our daughter (9 at the time) was with us. Didn't see any bugs though!
