    Pemi Flood Alert (10/25/09)

It was fine. We hiked from the Basin bushwack up Liberty Springs. The trail was wet and muddy in places but the stream crossings were all easily rock hopped.

    Pemi Flood Alert (10/25/09)

Rocket21 and I saw the search and rescue team at Lincoln Woods at 8:00 this morning on our way to do a Liberty Flume traverse. The Pemi was running verrrry fast. I would not have wanted to be crossing it today.

Mt Eisenhower, Mt Pierce, & Mt Jackson - 10/11/2009

Snow, ice, cold wind.... winter is on its way. I set out for a hike on Sunday with my wife dropping me off at Edmands Path at 8:00 and I had until 2:00 to get to Crawford Depot where she would pick me up. The forecast looked pretty good but morning air was cold. I headed up Edmands Path and...

The Kinsmans and Bald Knob - 10/10/2009

I joined Hiker Ed and his group on Saturday for an enjoyable, but wet hike up the Mt Kinsman Trail to visit North and South Kinsman. Several of us missed the very small sign marking the entrance to the new Mt Kinsman Trail parking lot. After I drove past it I stopped at the old trailhead where...

    A visit to the Owl

After a wet Saturday it was nice to start Sunday with some nice weather. Jeremy offered to lead a hike to Owl's Head and I really wanted to learn the Black Pond and Brutus bushwhacks. So Jermey, Skip, Dave, and I met at Lincoln Woods for a 7:30 departure. After the rain Saturday afternoon...

    White Mountains view from???

Nice! I figured the town of Littleton would probably get identified but you picked out the actual trail. The trail is a very short walk, 0.7 mile on a slight uphill grade to the summit. The view point is just downhill from the summit where a nice picnic table sits to enjoy the view from...

Flags on the 48 - Mt Liberty and Mt Flume

I wasn't signed up for any peaks but decided to visit Mt Liberty and Mt Flume to see the flags. The day looked pretty good when I arrived in the notch around 9:00 but as I hiked up the Liberty Springs Trail the clouds had rolled in over most of the summits. Mt Liberty was not too bad when I...

Ed’s Excellent Edventure, 23 summits in 6 days!

Thanks! The only day with little haze was really the last day, Friday. It was certainly the pick of the week for me. As for the Huts... the Croo at ALL the huts were excellent. I guess I was most impressed at Lake of the Clouds (the largest hut) at their efficiency in dealing with such a...
