    Short Hikes in Pinkham Notch

What a great way to spend a day! You sure did a nice job of weaving together a series of excellent locations with beautiful views. Glad you were able to get in so much time on the trails during the week. Wish we could have joined you for more that just one day.

Great pics and another hike that we really want to get to soon. Nice that you were able to start off your week with back to back 52WAVs.

    Chillin' On Mount Cabot 2/13/12

I'm clearly slow catching up on my reading! We had a blast doing this hike with you guys. What a great day to be out there. Chilly? Well maybe a little bit. So glad we could get back together and bag another peak on this trip. Already looking forward to next time.

Solo Winter Presidential Traverse on President's Day - 2/20/12

Amazing stuff Dan! Congrats on the string of milestones and accomplishments during this one. You're definitely going to have a hard time coming up with one to top it (but I'm sure you'll find a way).

Thanks Kevin. It was an awesome day to be up there. When the conditions are that beautiful the pictures almost take themselves.

    Weekend Bookends - Eagle Mountain & Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge - 2/12/12 & 2/14/12

Thanks Kevin. I've thought about Pondicherry for a long time but hadn't even heard of Eagle Mountain before Sunday - just picked it randomly off the map. They were both great. Can't wait to visit Pondicherry again in other seasons!

Awesome! Congratulations to Lauky (and actually to both of you)!

Congratulations to Tim C for another 48-in-one-winter finish!

He's done this so many times now it's just getting boring. ;). Shouldn't you be looking for a new challenge like doing them all walking backwards blindfolded? Seriously - congrats on another round. I truly am just jealous.

Mt Cabot Deep Freeze - 2/13/12

We had a great day on Monday in the middle of our three day weekend in the Whites hiking Mt Cabot with Mike and Donna (Jimmy Legs and Little D). It was one of the coldest days of the winter but we kept warm and despite the snow and wind on the way up were treated to a bluebird summit! The blog...

    Evo Ascents

We've had Evo Ascents for several years now and although we have nowhere near enough miles on them we've been really happy with them every time out. We'll be happy to give them some more exercise this weekend if we can only find somewhere with enough snow...

Canon Announces 10 New PowerShot Models

I fall into the category that Michael mentions. I have to say that in general for images on the trail the Powershot A series has served me well over the years. One reason that I prefer the P&S for hiking is that it's so much more easily accessible and I therefore have it out much more often...

Any new compact cameras worth a look ?

As I noted over on Michael's thread about the new Canon models I just picked up the A1200 for $79 and am very happy with it. Sample images from the first day out with it are here: https://picasaweb.google.com/114856685929776719960/MtTecumseh2512#

Canon Announces 10 New PowerShot Models

I've always loved the Canon A series for point and shoots and currently have my third one. Just picked up the A1200 for $70 from Amazon to replace the SX130 that is having lens issues. Really like the SX130 but with a broken seal and dust getting inside the lens and no reasonable way to get it...

Super Sunday for the Shortest of the Tall - Mt Tecumseh 2/5/12

Broke our two month hiking drought this Sunday with quick day trip up for a hike of Tecumseh. Just a spectacular day to be in the (somewhat) snowy mountains! Great hike to check #34 off the list and time to get home and watch the fantastic Super Bowl game (yes, I'm a Giants fan). Now we're...

    Planned Hikes Next Week, 2/6, 2/7, & 2/11/2012

Sounds like quite the week! Can't join the fun, but do have a question. We're planning on doing Cabot next week (Monday) and I'm unclear what the situation is with the Fish Hatchery gate in the winter. Since you're planning to finish by headlight I'm assuming that it's not closed at 4pm (if...

Mark Patinkin Scales the Mighty Jerimoth Hill! Very funny...

This is hilarious (or maybe more appropriately Hillary-ous) From today's ProJo: http://digital.olivesoftware.com/Olive/ODE/ProJo/LandingPage/LandingPage.aspx?href=VFBKLzIwMTIvMDEvMjI.&pageno=NjM.&entity=QXIwNjMwNQ..&view=ZW50aXR5
