    Your favorite photos of 2009

We were fortunate to be able to travel extensively during this past year, so I have too many photos to share, but here are a few of my 2009 picks. My Picasa Public Photo Gallery has more favorites. :D

    Sedona AZ hiking ?

You might be interested in some photos from a trip I took to Arizona/Utah in September of 2008. The Arizona shots are some of the last in the album.

    Sedona AZ hiking ?

I also encourage you to visit Montezuma's Well National Park and the Monteuma's Castle ruin. We did a short hike in the Sedona area called Sterling Pass which I recommend. Also, check out V Bar V Ranch National Historic Site for petroglyphs and an amazing rock calendar.

Suggestions for Backpack for Photo Equipment

Thanks everybody for your help. I've just ordered a Lowepro Topload Zoom 1 camera bag to replace my well-worn Tamrac. I won't be getting a camera backpack but will use the new camera bag/Rebel XTi/17-85mm workhorse lens along with my Osprey daypack. Should work fine!

Suggestions for Backpack for Photo Equipment

Darren- I sometimes use a Lowepro Toploader 70AW attached to a halter when going on short photo shoot hikes. I can then use my regular Osprey daypack over the halter and the camera case is right in front for easy access. However this 70AW is BIG (I can't even see my feet or the ground in front...

Suggestions for Backpack for Photo Equipment

Thanks everybody for your suggestions. Excellent ideas, nartreb, from the links. I always assumed that hanging the the camera bag around your shoulder would be uncomfortable with the backpack waist belt and the bag would get in the way when hiking. At present I clip a small, inexpensive...

Suggestions for Backpack for Photo Equipment

I'm trying to find a backpack which I can use on photography hikes/outings. I've been looking at Lowepro packs and found THIS , a Fastpack 350, on eBags.com. Has anybody heard of or used this pack? Does anyone have any suggestions about camera backpacks I should investigate? I'm looking for a...

Saving Digital Photo files for long-term

"Really been pondering whether to go to an online service as one person mentioned. Has anyone done a comparison of the best in terms of company stability, security, cost, capacity and ease of use?" Alan- Check out these two online back-up services: Mozy and Carbonite. They both are meant to...

Time for the 2009 Spring/Summer Flower Thread

Thanks NeoAkela- in addition to my own perennial garden, there is a garden near my house maintained by the local cooperative extension. I love to take my camera there in the early morning and take photos. Thanks also, arghman! I wasn't able to identify the "desert flower," will further...

Time for the 2009 Spring/Summer Flower Thread

Here is my contribution to this year's Spring/Summer Flower Thread. I've compiled wildflower photos from some recent 2009 hikes as well as a few other miscellaneous shots from trips to other places and a few perennial garden flower photos. I am always inspired by the artistic work of the...

Cat and Thomas Mtns. (NY) 5-13-09

The views on Cat Mt. are better, in my opinion, than views on nearby Buck and Black Mts. I can't believe we hadn't been there before. Here are a few photos: http://picasaweb.google.com/JoanneHihn/51309ThomasCatMts?authkey=Gv1sRgCNOtkY32xr7mZw#slideshow/5335748000087795298

Hermit completes Catskill Hundred Highest 5-9-2009

It is always a pleasure to hike with you Ralph, but yesterday's hike was especially enjoyable. My superstitious spirit is convinced that because we didn't talk about the weather (most of the time), we were blessed with a beautiful day. The afternoon sun, of course, was a mixed blessing because...

    Utah/Arizona Trip (4-09)

I know, Doug! We have traveled to the southwest three times now and are anxious to go back yet again. We are learning that we need to focus on one area - say, Canyonlands Needles District - for a longer period of time, rather than becoming frustrated by superficially experiencing several...
