    Cabot/Bulge/Horn... 8/15/2005

Mark I agree with Kevin that the 4K committee would have no problem; after all, under normal circumstances you can drive to the TH, so why not bike?

Loop over Terraces; Hatchery Bridge Out

For my number 82 NH HH I elected to do a loop over the Terraces, clockwise starting on the York Pond Trail, continuing on the Kilkenny Ridge Trail, and finishing up on the Bunnel Notch Trail. When I arrived at the Berlin Fish Hatchery after a drive from Concord, I was surprised to learn that...

    Mt Dartmouth Bushwhack

Excessive speed in a bushwhack?? Well........our OVERALL speed was less than 1 mph; we left the road at 8:45 and were back at 12:45. I tend to move in fits and starts on a BW; since the woods were open, we could move rapidly from one sighting to the next, and so forth. I think we spent about...

    Mt Dartmouth Bushwhack

AG and I found a relatively easy route to this NH HH peak for my number 81. We left the car at 2500 feet on the Jefferson Notch road, and simply followed a map bearing of 274M. This involved a lot of slabbing until we reached about 3300 feet; at this point, still on the bearing, the route...

Lowell & Anderson last day of winter 05

Lowell and Anderson are two NH 100 highest peaks, and have the reputation as being difficult bushwhacks. Eight of us proved that the reputation is deserved as we did a traverse on the last day of winter hiking season. Two of us, Mike and David, had scouted out a possible route three days...

Bad news from the Cog railway

We parked 12/28 (a Tuesday) FWIW, 5 of us in 2 vehicles parked in the upper lot as close as we could get to the (old) Ammo TH last week last Tuesday. We looked around the lot for somebody to pay, and there was nobody. We hiked Monroe, and returned around 2:30. No notes on windshield and...

    Clough Bushwhack October 20, 2004

In reply to Waumbek, the mountains to the west of Long Pond are, from N to S: Sugarloaf and Jeffers, connected by the Hogsback; Blueberry, and Owls Head (obviously not the 4000 footer nor the one by Mt Martha (Cherry). I guess the one to the right of your photo is Jeffers.

    Pliny Bushwhack

We hit rain as soon as we drove into Franconia Notch. Got home in time to get a nap and dress up for a Halloween party. We were surprised to see Fred there with his wife!

    Clough Bushwhack October 20, 2004

Clough Bushwhack Yes, Clough is southeast of Long Pond. You can get a good view of Clough from the summit of the South Peak of Moosilauke. There are cliffs that line the eastern edge of the ridge we wacked up, so you don't want to start the whack beyond the height of land on Tunnel Brook trail.

    Clough Bushwhack October 20, 2004

Anne Gwynne and I did this NH 100 peak on a nice sunny day in late October. We went in from the Tunnel Brook trail after parking our car on the North-South Road above the AT crossing (off of NH Rt 25 near Glencliff). There were several stream crossings on the Tunnel Brook trail, which were no...

    Pliny Bushwhack

Mount Pliny, south of Starr King and Waumbek, is a NH 100 Highest peak. A group of us bushwhacked to the summit on October 30, 2004, and had an easy time of it. We started on the old, unmaintained Priscilla Brook trail off Ingerson Road. The trailhead is 1 mile from the western junction of Rt...
