    Proposed bushwhacking classification.

a #5 for me would have to be from the top of Kilburn Slide to the summit of Kilburn. Then at a close second ST2 from Ward Brook Trail. It was probobly pretty nice 100 feet to the left.

    Azure Mtn fire tower

WOW, one old thread. I'm in, as long as we can do some bushwhacking in the area as well. Maybe head over to three summits of West Mountain to the West.

    Mount Matumbla

Do they allow hikers? or will I need to seek permission? Do they own the entire mountain/the summit or is there a state approach? It's a huge mountain, there should be state land bordering somewhere.

    Mount Matumbla

I know I've seen threads about this peak in the past, but I thought I would bring up a new one. Is there a trail up this peak? Where does it start from? I would like to visit this one this winter.

    2-27 Nipple Top and Dial

All I can say is finally; I got these two peaks out of the way. I only say that because I’ve been humming and hawing about it for a couple winters. The fact is I really hate walking the Lake Road, and I already did once this winter in its entirety-that felt like enough. Actually this was the...

2-24 Rogers Rock and Mount Defiance

We went up just west of south, as soon as the cliffs would let us. The headed East from the lower bump to the Higher one.

2-24 Rogers Rock and Mount Defiance

The North side is private, hense the reason we came in from the South from the park. Denise I took quite a few pictures, I'm kind of in the process of building a picture gallery-it will be a while.

2-24 Rogers Rock and Mount Defiance

To start off Maddi and I went back-country skiing of Friday and rented the gear. I rented a pair of boot one size to big and when going into Marcy Dam the toe kept bending over my foot and rubbed all ten toes raw on the top. To say the least I was in pain and didn’t turn around until I hit the...

    Peak Identification in the Daks?

Once you get deeper into the 46, you will be naming them off easy. You will see most of the peaks have different features that stand out. But Marta is right, if you know the ranges and how they run it's easy. Most of the high peaks are in bunches. MacIntyres Sewards Santa's Great Range Giant...

    Phelps 2-17 and Street 2-19

Here's an old pic from the top of one of the Nye Slides.

    Phelps 2-17 and Street 2-19

You could always do Nye from the Northville/Placid Trail via its Slides. I checked them out one time and found a small one. The hardest part is finding the base of the slide. Actually, the hardest part will probobly be the bushwhack from the top of the slide to the summit.

Anyone planning on Dix Range this weekend 2/23 to 2/25?

That's why they give you sick days, not because you're really sick. ;)

    Phelps 2-17 and Street 2-19

Wow, so close to Nye too. It's only 10 minutes from the junction in normal conditions, around 100' of elevation. But if it's not broken that could take forever. Happened to me a few years ago. Got Nye but not Street. Went back this year and got both. It sucks, but it happens.

I'm in Ed. I answered the invitation. That makes two. Maddi may join us making three.

    pitchoff mtn trailhead?

Not only visit the balanced rocks but between them as well. As you approach the balanced rocks look to the right of them, there's a small dike in the ridge. Climb down 8 feet into the dike and follow it out to the left. You will comeout to a overhang on the side of the mountain. Best spot on the...
