Gourmet Hut Trip to Carter Notch Hut - Feb 18-20, 2006

OK, so the "ice pack" was a ziplock filled with frozen baby wipes, and it was needed (can't help but share!) because *someone* spilled some hot cocoa on my head, right in the part between my hair! Supposedly it was only a couple of drops, but wow, that "ice pack" sure was soothing! -katie :)

I've finally caught my breath enough to chime in and post after an exhausting past couple of days! I had an INCREDIBLE time this past weekend, and so enjoyed getting to know the people from this VFTT community a little better. Random thoughts: We missed you Susan (and Hanna, Jen, and Teejay)...

    Boston Beer Night

I'm usually not one to make a big deal about these things, but since it's a group party already, let's just say there is another VFTTer that has her birthday very close to that date...I'll be there! -Katie

    Tripyramids attempt 1/16

Amy is a braver soul than me...if only you could have seen how much water was wrung out of her socks! That incident aside, it really was a lovely day, and I was so happy to be out there regardless of not summiting. And the views of the north slide from scaur ridge got me excited to go back...

Boston's Wilderness House Under New Owners

As soon as I saw this post, I went to see what I could find...I got 25% off a great Osprey pack, and 20% off some Mountain Hardwear gaiters that will fit over my plastic boots--both great deals, I just wasn't expecting to spend that kind of $$ this weekend!! I asked one of the employees about...

Men's boots come in 5 different widths (narrow, medium, wide, x wide, and xx wide). Here is their website: http://www.dunhamfits.com/ The boots I have are...

Carrigain: so THAT's what you all have been talking about!

Thanks for all your comments, everyone...I was really happy that Marie did such a great job keeping her camera warm so we could have any pictures at all (I didn't bring one and Greg's died in the cold)! I feel like even though you all know that pictures can never do a view justice, or really...

Carrigain: so THAT's what you all have been talking about!

The idea of hiking Carrigain this past Saturday (1/7/06) came from Marty—it was to be his 48th NH 4000-footer, quite the cause for celebration. Unfortunately, he had to cancel the night before, so the participants on this epic adventure turned out to be Roadtripper (Greg), my friend Marie, and...

    2006 - What's on the Table

Finishing my NH 48!! After over 10 years of meandering through this list, I have 26 down, 22 to go, and hope to get there by sometime next fall. I haven't decided on a finishing peak yet...I'll decide that closer to the time. I also want to explore the mountains of ME and VT a bit more, and...
