    Santanoni's

Since it has been dry and the days are nice and long for light, I decided we decided to do the Santanoni's 6/25/16 considering last time it was about a 12 hour day. Last time I did these, we went up tagged Couch, went over to Santanoni and the back to Panther and down the same way we came up...

    Moosilauke

Thanks for the input. I've done Beaver Brook a few times and didn't really want to take that way up because I was concerned about the ice and Matthew slipping. I was concerned about parking on the other trails. I remember a parking lot years ago when I did it I the winter but not much...

Trying to decide what to hike this weekend. We have only done 7 of the winter 48 and trying to do some more. It's harder in winter with school interfering. Anyway....I have done Moosilauke in the winter before but can't remember the trail. What is the best way up in the winter...and where...

    Crockers from CVR

There are no ladders to Redington either. My friend had her dog with her and he did fine. (are you going from South Crockers?...that is how we did it....We came down another way but it was very long. We think we would have rather climbed back over South Crocker) Be careful on that road. 2...

    Road near LOJ

There used to be a road near LOJ that you could camp. Is that still there and is it still free? Also, I noticed or it seems that you don't have to hike a couple of the mountains in the catskills to do your ADK...has that changed?

    Caribou Valley Road conditions?

Just did it a couple of weeks ago. One of the bridges near the end one of the boards pops up. We put some branches underneath and went over it and were fine. The second problem bridge were the holes in the wood as you pass. I got over it but was scared. The have put a barrier before the...

    Hiking Boundry

Made there and back safely. All went very smoothly. Like you said, 3 questions...where you going, why and how long. We paid 13.25 now I think it was to get in the park. The guy asked if we were hiking Boundry. He spoke English but not....We had no trouble, saw noone (except 2 campers that...

    Hiking Boundry

Is there any problems or concerns I should be worried about when going to hike Boundry? We will be going into Canada and hike from there. I have read reports about border patrol. I don't want to get into trouble.

Got a new compass for Christmas and am trying to figure it out. It's the Garmin 62s. Are there classes you can take or forums. I've been watching some youtubes. I had a Garmin extrex long ago but it never kept signal. I gave up on it. I am hoping this one will be better if I can ever...
