Hi,
There is some decent info on the history of the 46ers and the New England 67 on the web, but I couldn't find the first finishers of the combined list (excluding the lastest changes in the '90), not necessarily looking for their names, but at least the decade.
We saw plenty of dogs on easy 14ers on our recent trip to CO, even a brown lab going for Torreys's Kelso ridge (the guy looked like an experienced climber, kinco gloves repaired with duct tape).
We just finished New Eng. 3k (451) on Twin Peaks in ME and there was very few recent entries in the canister, even by under 3500' ME standards. I know someone at 774/777 who is eager to finish, me and my partner are kinda stuck close to 770 with a few private ones in NY and a trip to PA that we...
Only 8 left for the Northeast 777, but that includes PA and 4 private ones in NY that we are not much interested in doing and certainly not crazy enough to follow the tracks of Pierre (Oncoman) on the winter list, but we are doing a 2nd round of 115-W post-Covid. We're doing lightweight...
Haha, just back from CO, same feedback, for peaks with trails it's like a highway with switchbacks filled with cotton wearing hikers even in the middle of the week, but trail signs with mileage/elevation gain? Nope, we don't do that here.
When we started the 3k list, we were driving a Honda Fit, so we've hiked our fair share of NH/ME backroads. For this one, there is already a pretty long road walk if your reach the end of the Inlet rd (and other approaches are even less interesting).
Just back from a CO trip, that's the local lingo for easy 4wd road ! Some years ago, we went there for that same 3k and our trip ended less than 1 mile in because of a destroyed culvert, going over the ditch would have required something like a Wrangler or a jacked up truck.
Just saw a report from yesterday that Tuckerman was still closed, is there still some snow there or is it something else? Was at the top (going to Alpine Garden) about two weeks ago and there wasn't a lot of snow left...
Yeah, on a previous trip that was interrupted by bad weather, that's when we did the Boundary Balds. Still have that Twin to do to at least complete the NewEng 3k officially.
There is one place in Gorham that I don't understand how it can survive, the Yokohama, this was our worst restaurant experience ever, 10 years later we're still joking that our 4 plates looked/tasted almost identical even if we ordered different ones (none of us finished it, the waiter was quite...
I always wondered where you're supposed to park for this TH, I know there is some spots in front of the depot, I guess you're not supposed to use the actual depot parking, and there is of course the larger crawford parking not far away... (obvisouly there is also the Highland center parking...
From Saddleback: An important note from Ski Patrol: For those looking to hike or snowshoe to the summit, it is closed until further notice to protect fragile habitat.
Wildcat don't mention buying a pass: Uphill access is permitted before and after operating hours (before 8:30am - after 4pm).
